A Sweater for Fritz

Knitting for the discerning 11½" fashion doll can be challenging. Even moreso when
the doll in question is male. A Sweater for Fritz may just change that.

This easily customizable top-down raglan sweater uses so Skills Used


little yarn and knits up so quickly that in no time your doll working in the round

can have a different sweater for every mood and every occasion. picking up stitches

4½" long x 3½" wide (11.4cm x 8.9cm), to fit 11½" k knit
(29.2cm) male fashion doll p purl
r round
Materials st(s) stitch(es)
• 75yds/69m fingering weight yarn k2tog k two sts together
• US 3/3.25mm needles (double-pointed, two ssk slip two sts knitwise, one at a time, then k
circulars, or one long circular for Magic Loop), or together through back loops
size needed to obtain recommended gauge m1r right-leaning increase: lift bar between sts and
• waste yarn or stitch holders for sleeve stitches place on left needle, with left leg of the loop in
• 4 or 5 stitch markers front; knit into the left (front) leg of the loop
m1l left-leaning increase: lift bar between sts and
• tapestry needle or crochet hook for weaving in ends
place on left needle, with right leg of the loop in
Gauge front; knit into the left (back) leg of the loop

Pattern Notes
Instructions between brackets should be repeated as
noted (e.g. [k1, p1] 4 times).

Cast on 28 sts and join to work in the round. The start Sleeves (Make 2)
of the round will be the center back. Move sleeve sts to needles. The start of the round will
be the middle of the underarm.
Body
r1: k5, pm, k4, pm, k10, pm, k4, pm, k5. r1: Pick up and k 1 st from cast-on edge of underarm
r2-4: k to end. sts. Pick up and k 1 st from space between cast-on
r5: [k to 1 st before marker, m1r, k2, m1l] 4 times, k to edge and sleeve sts. k18. Pick up and k1 from space
end. (8 sts increased, 36 sts) between sleeve sts and cast-on edge. Pick up and k 1
r6: k to end. st from cast-on edge of underarm. (22 sts)
Repeat rounds 5 & 6 six more times. (84 sts) r2: k2tog, k18, ssk. (20 sts)
r3: k to end.
Next round: [k to marker, put 18 sleeve sts on waste
yarn, cast on 2 sts with backwards loop] 2 times, k to Continue in stockinette stitch until sleeve is 1½"
end. (52 sts) (3.8cm) from underarm edge.

Continue in stockinette stitch until body is 4½" (11.4cm) Decrease round: k2tog, k to last 2 sts, ssk.
