Reaction Paper On The Application of The Universal Health Care To Nursing Informatics

1. The document discusses the application of universal health care and nursing informatics in the Philippines. It notes that while universal health care was introduced under the Aquino administration, the system is still not properly implemented. 2. Nursing informatics can help improve health care delivery by facilitating communication and storing patient data electronically. This empowers patients and improves access to care. 3. However, the Philippines still struggles with providing adequate health care as evidenced by a woman who recently died after being rejected from six hospitals. Fully applying nursing informatics could help ensure all people receive quality health services.

1. Reaction paper on the application of the Universal Health Care to nursing informatics.

The Nursing Informatics impact. It was the Aquino administration when Universal Health Care
(UHC), also referred to as Kalusugan Pangkalahatan (KP) was introduced in public. The government
mandate aiming to ensure that every Filipino shall receive affordable and quality health benefits.
Unfortunately, the Aquino regime was already expired and we have Duterte as our President today.
The big question now is “was it successful or does it improved anything at least?.” A concerned
citizen already knows the answer for that without any doubts. Philippines face an enormous problem,
specifically in Health Care services. This paper is made for a principle, to broaden minds of critics
and to comprehend the importance of integrating technology in Nursing profession.
When technology is used to not just treat the patient but also to facilitate communication and
to store patient data, it is easy to see just how much health information technology can contribute to
delivering a higher quality of care. One of the biggest roles of informatics within health care is finding
a way for hospitals, clinics, provider's offices, and other facilities to deliver patient-centered care. This
gives the patient the power to take control over their own care by accessing their electronic medical
records or using a secure system where they can communicate with their doctors and nurses.
The advantages of applying information technology in all aspects of nursing, including
clinical areas, management, education and research and its influence on health care have been
reviewed. Regarding the technology-rich environment, health care and hospital information systems
developers, the quality of care is improving. Information is the source of all management activities.
Nursing care is an industry service and its product is patient care.
“Information technology can promote the nursing management outcome” (Pierce et al., 2003).
Internet-based nurse scheduling systems are mostly designed according to the self-scheduling model
and need refining by the manager who overviews proper distribution, it causes uniform resource
allocation in scheduling and increases patient direct care time. This promotes more accessible time
frame in dealing with higher ratios of patients. In this regard, patients would be able to access easily
their files and bills without any hassle. It would only require a gadget and a decent internet.
While the government is trying to pursue the complete application of Nursing Informatics and
performing the highest possible care to everyone, we have almost forgotten that that this plan is still
not executed properly until today. “A woman who had just given birth died on Friday after failing to
receive treatment from more than six hospitals” (Garcia,2020). This situation itself reflects how we
have poor health care system in the Philippines, why? Because the Government didn’t bother to give
the right amount of funds to hospital. They continue to compromise the money of Filipinos. How are
we supposed to achieve the Universal Health Care? if until now we still suffer from burdens of
previous regime and up to present administration.
Time will only tell when the right person is seated in the chair of the President. Someday,
someone will turn the tables into its proper place and will serve the best possible health care that
we’ve been craving for years. With regards to that, applying Universal Health Care would be possible
with the aid of Nursing informatics. Everyone will be recognized as beneficiaries of adequate
resources – health human resources, health facilities, and health financing. Healthcare informatics
would be a great help for the people to access their quality health service without wasting so much
time and effort because of its modernity and accessibility. Therefore, Informatics has a great impact
for attaining the best and highest possible care that we deserve no matter what race and social status
that we belong.
