Study Skills (Kahusayan sa pag aaral)
To enhance students’ academic performance, individuals need to develop study skills.
The students need to generate awareness regarding study skills that include, memorizing from
the textbooks or other materials, making notes, practicing writing essays and articles, practicing
mathematics calculations and many more. Concentration is vital to one’s studies. Teachers also
encourage students to acquire an understanding of the concepts instead of memorizing (Trout,
2018).
Some students continue to pursue their academic achievement even with unwanted
distractions through paying attention in class, completing homework, studying, and
concentrating during a test to reach their academic goal. Working Memory plays a big role in
controlling attention and processing information. Coordinated Activity is a component of
working memory wherein it manipulates the information of one's memory. It is also related to
high-level cognitive abilities that are found by the researchers that it can predict a high degree of
academic performance. (Hassanbeigi et al., 2011).
Taking and reviewing notes are a necessary part of the college learning experience.
Attending to the lecture, comprehension of the material to be learned and the subsequent recall
are facilitated by the belief of the college students in taking notes. The belief that note-taking
alone facilitates the process of understanding a specific topic is often believed by those who
write summaries that they will not use later. The process of note-taking is of great importance
because of the findings that it has significant effects on the academic performance of a student
(Hassanbeigi et al., 2011).
Peers Motivation (Pagganyak ng mga kasamahan)
Peers are a great source of motivation. It can be your lifelong friends, classmates and family that stand up
for you. They assist one another and can be mentors in each other’s personal lives. Those people who
work with assistance and sharing their skills and knowledge obtain better results (Mendoza &
Monteverde, 2014).
Teacher Motivation (Pagganyak sa Guro)
For students, the teacher is probably the single, most powerful source of motivation. It is solely
based on the teacher in determining the student’s performance. Teachers must be conscious of their
powerful impact and ensure that it is positively affecting the young minds entrusted to their care. Also,
teachers must be prepared to take the task put into their hands. They motivate students as they show their
concerned to student’s well-being and act as their parents or friends (Mendoza & Monteverde, 2014).
School Resources (Mapagkukunan sa paaralan)
It is dynamic for schools to make the provision of resources that can be utilized to
enhance the academic performance of students. Schools should include essential materials such
as textbooks, notes, learning materials, hand-outs, technology, and library facilities. Students will
be able to have a better understanding regarding academic concepts if they will be provided with
the necessary tools and equipment (Maina, 2010).
Instructors and Teaching Method (Magtuturo at Pamamaraan sa pagtuturo)
Good preparation will bring about unexpected and highly satisfactory results such as
active learning and discussion, high levels of engagement and devotion of time. Case studies
embody a diversified method of individual preparation, group meeting and analysis, class
discussion and faculty instruction and facilitation through sharing works experiences of group
work for individual differences; develop knowledge, generic skills, and attitudes. Study tips or
extended group experience off-campus is supplemental to regular courses to gain awareness and
establish connections with social communities (Mendoza & Monteverde, 2014).
