1 BACKYARD, Mary (Feboney) and Joy (Brigette)
Mary and Joy are playing with dirt and mud, getting hands dirty and clothes
wet.

MOM (Katherine)
Kids! It’s time for lunch! Come on inside now!

MARY
Okay, Mom! We’ll be there in 5 minutes!

2 KITCHEN, MARY, JOY, MOM

Mom sets up the table and asks the kids to sit down.
The kids are about to start eating when they hear a strange noise.

GERM 1 (Riana)
(evil tone) They’ll never know we’re here! We’re going to have delicious food
AND infect their meal! (evil maniacal laugh)

GERM 2 (Nichole)
(Agreeing tone) You got that right! We’ll make them sick! (evil laugh as well)

Mom and kids look at each other, confused. Then Mom takes the kids hands
and “listens” to the germs.

MOM
Kids, did you wash your hands after playing?

JOY
(Confused) Uhm, no Mom, we didn’t. BUT! We wiped our hands with tissue and
alcohol! So, they’re clean! See? (Shows hands to Mom)

MOM
Tsk tsk. Did you forget what I told you? You should always wash your hands.

MARY
(complaining) But, Mom! They’re not even that dirty! Look! (Shows hands to
Mom as well.
The germs intervene in the conversation.

GERM 2
(snickering) They’re so clueless! They don’t even know that our mortal enemy
is
GERM 1
(Shh-ing gesture) STOP! we don’t need to talk about… (shudders) let’s just
focus on infecting the food and the children!

GERM 2
(reassured) YEAH! You’re right! (snicker) shall we then?

MOM
HOLD YOUR HORSES! Let me get something.

Mom reaches under the table to get a big magnifying glass. She grabs the
hands of the children and inspects their hands.
The germs are magnified, and the germs will appear on stage.

GERM 2
(panicked) HIDE! WE HAVE TO HIDE!!! THEY’RE GOING TO SEE US!

GERM 1
(terrified) it seems…. A bit too late for that… (gulp)

GERM 2
Are we going to die?

MOM
AHA! I see you! You naughty germs. (gestures to the children) Kids, look here.
Do you see those moving things? Those are germs! They like hands that
aren’t washed.

MARY
OH NO! What do we do? EWWWW

GERM 1
Ouch. We’re not that dirty. (angry)

GERM 2
I mean… we kind of are, right?

GERM 1
You’re not helping.

GERM 2
Right. Sorry.

Mom removes the magnifying glass.

MOM
There’s only one way to stop them. With…

Mom reaches under the table again and takes out a bar of soap.

MOM
THIS! This is the enemy of germs!

GERM 1
(terrified) Hey… hey… it’s… it’s….

GERM 2
(scream) SOAP!!!!!!!!

Germ 1 and Germ 2 huddle together in a terrified manner. They try to back
away as much as possible to get away from the soap.

MOM
Look, kids! The germs are afraid of the soap!

GERM 2
Stay away from us!

GERM 1
Yeah, get off!

MARY
Mommy, isn’t it bad to kill the germs?

JOY
Yeah, mom, how about their family?

MOM
Girls, these are bad germs. If we don’t eliminate them they will cause sickness.
You don’t want to get sick don’t you?
Germ 1 and Germ 2 look at each other, clearly offended.

MARY
NO! I don’t want to get sick and spend all day in bed!

JOY
Me too, mommy, I wanna play all day! LET’S KILL THEM!

MOM
(Chuckles at kids) Calm down, kids. Let’s wash your hands now then?

MARY and JOY

Yes, mommyyyyy!

Scene shifts to the germs in obvious panic.

GERM 2
What do we do?!

GERM 1
I don’t know!

GERM 2
This is your fault! (point angrily at Germ 1)

GERM 1
How is it my fault?! (throws hands in the air frustratedly)

GERM 2
Because your voice was SOOO LOUD that the mom heard you!

GERM 1
Well, I'm sorry the mom had super hearing! (angry)

GERM 2
Attacks GERM 1

GERM 1 and GERM 2 continue to argue.

3 LAVATORY, KIDS WILL WASH THEIR HANDS

MOM
Let’s wash our hands now children!
MARY and JOY
Yes, mommyyyy.

MOM
Remember the proper way to wash hands?

JOY
Ooooh, yes mommy!

MARY
Joy, can you show it to me again? I forgot, there are just too many steps!

JOY
Sure, Mary! Just do it like this

Joy demonstrates the proper handwashing technique (wistful music in the

background)

JOY
We need to do this for 20 seconds or more!

MOM
That’s right, that’s the optimal length of time to remove the germs. Very good
kids!

MARY
(Amazed and enlightened) Oh! Now I remember! Let me try!

Mary washes her hands as well.

JOY
Mom, what happened to the germs?

MOM
Well…

4 FLASHBACK SCENE TO WASHING OF HANDS, POV OF THE GERMS,

ENTRANCE OF SOAP WARRIORS

GERM 1
I guess this is the end, huh?
GERM 2
Yeah, it looks like it. I still blame you, though. If you hadn’t been so

GERM 1
QUIET! Do you hear that?
The germs stay silent as they hear the sound of marching footsteps getting
louder and louder.

GERM 2
Do you think it’s the…?

GERM 1
No… it can’t be…

The soap particles emerge from a distance. they will be named KUYAGUARD,
because safeguard cannot be used.

SOAP 1 (Mark)
We meet again, 0.01 %. (very military like entrance, cinematic)

The soaps laugh together, in presumptive victory.

GERM 1
Hey Kuyaguards how’ve you been?? (nervous laugh)

GERM 2
Oh! Would you look at the time! We should probably get going. C’mon Germ 1.
(tries to leave but gets stopped)

SOAP 1
NOT SO FAST! (Halts the Germs from leaving)

SOAP 2 (Chit)
(Chuckles) You won’t get away this time.

GERM 1 and GERM 2

NOOOOOO!!!!!

The soaps attack the germs, scrubbing and cleaning them in the process. The
germs die, seconds later.

5 KITCHEN, KIDS AND MOM

MARY
Well… that was uhm…

Mary and Joy look at each other and say their lines at the same time
MARY (at the same time as Joy)
GROSS!

JOY (at the same time as Mary)

FUN!

Mom laughs at the and hugs both of her children.

MOM
What did you learn, kids?

MARY
Th-that we should always wash our hands after playing.

JOY
And before eating!

MOM
And why should you wash your hands?

JOY
So that the evil germs don’t infect us and the food!

MARY
Yes! What she said.

MOM
And you know, if you wash your hands regularly, you’re not only protecting
yourself, but you’re also protecting our family. You can also share what
you know to your friends, so they can be clean and protect their families
too!

JOY
Wow! I never thought about it that way, Mom! We promise to always wash our
hands from now on!

MARY
Yup! We promise!
MOM
Very good, kids! I love you both. Come on, let’s eat.

The family proceeds to eat their lunch at the table.
