Introduction
The pardon power includes not only that of granting absolute and unconditional pardons, but also
that of commuting a punishment to one of a different sort than that originally imposed upon a
person. It may be exercised at any time after the commission of an offence, either before legal
proceedings are begun or during their pendency, and either before or after conviction.”
Objective of Project
The objective of this project on the topic “president power to pardon ” is to study about various
kinds of provision related to pardoning power of India . Different cases related to topic will be
read and analyzed.
Significance of the Study
This research paper shall try to introduce the reader with the whole concept of the pardoning
power, emphasising on the importance of the constitutional importance of the law of pardoning
power and will discuss the case scenario of the same in the Indian subcontinent.
Research Methodology
A number of sources of information were consulted such as books, magazines, online resource
etc.. This project is purely doctrinal in nature as it is based on researches already generated from
the sources already researched.
