How true is the fact that masters degree has less funding and scholarships than PhD?

Yes, it's true MS program has less funding than Ph.D. program because in Ph.D. you'll
spend a lot of time in research. You’ll publish 4-5 good papers but in MS ur priority is
coursework and for thesis, you'll need only 1-2 good paper(s). after completing MS, you
may switch to other places. On the other hand, a professor has invested 2 years on you,
after learning how to do research if u go to other places, professor's goal may not be
achieved (not every time). That's why professors are more interested to take PhD
students.

What are the chances if someone wants to pursue masters only and look for jobs?

After completing MS, you have very good chances to get a nice job. You'll get additional
6 months after graduation to seek job which is called Optional Practical Training (OPT).
(ask experts for details) Many people get job from university career fair. I saw two career
fairs where more than 90 companies participate.

After Msc. Or Ph.D., what will be the career path of a student? I mean how one can get a
good job in that respected university?

You can search job according to your field. To get a job in USA, you’ll need an US

How important is undergrad thesis quality?

Good undergraduate thesis always put a good impression on your application profile as
well as professor's mind. Before any skype interview, I always send my thesis
presentation slide to the professor. It helps him/her to understand my work
interest/enthusiasm.

How much importance does publication carry? Is it mandatory?

I don't have publication yet. This is not mandatory. But if u have, it's very good. US
professor's really appreciate if anyone has publication during undergraduate life.

The standard office hour is 9am to 5pm but 9am to 10pm is very common. Once you fall
in love or adjust with your research work, it won't be a problem. Usually, Professor's are
very cooperative. You may find exceptions. After all, they are also human.

How volunteering work can be helpful in case of getting admission?

Volunteering is really good. It makes ur resume nice. I worked for KUET Math Club, Pi
zero to infinity, & other social activities which left a good impression on professors. Few
professors replied my email by appreciating my enthusiasm & volunteer work for
mathematics and puzzle solving events.

Is there any difference between having masters or Phd degree from a high ranked
university and a low ranked university?

High rank or good school may have high research opportunity, sufficient funding, very
good knowledgeable professors, competitive colleagues, a proper work environment for
research etc. Low rank, infamous, new grad school can be good but they may lack the
mentioned opportunities.

The application procedure is same for both cases.

For Ph.D., below 3 cgpa is very hard to convince the professor that you can take such
pressure.

Nowadays people choose Ph.D. because getting fund in MS prg is difficult and MS
funding is less than Ph.D. funding. But you should choose Phd., if you really want to do
research and you have real interest on a particular topic.

Your field, location, situation etc. can be factors of getting a job. I prefer to do MS first
because after MS, u ll get 6 months OPT to get a job or take a decision for ur future. MS
is 2 years only, then Ph.D. is 3 yrs. but without MS, Ph.D. will be 5 yrs long.

৩টা িভ color use কেরিছ। তেব কউ যিদ magoosh high frequency 300 + basic 350 words
পড়েত চান, সখােনও ৬৫০টা word এর মেধ এখােন থেক কমপে 400 words common পােবন। আিম
আসেল ব ি গতভােব GRE িতেত 1000 এর বিশ word memorize করার পে নই। থমিদেক
অেনেকর মেতাই word িনেয় বিশ মাতামািত কের এই file েলা বািনেয়িছলাম। আিম িনেজও princeton hit
parade পিড় িন তেব magoosh এর word list এ অেনক িমল পেয়িছ।

১০০০ word িশখেতই আপনার কমপে ৩ মাস চেল কেট যােব। িদেন কখনই ১০-১৫ টার বিশ মুখ কের
আপিন মেন রাখেত পারেবন না। যিদ ২০ িমিনট ব য় কেরন নতু ন শ িশখেত তেব ৪০ িমিনট ব য় ক ন
পুরেনা word েলা মুখ করেত। revise টা সবেচেয় বিশ পূণ। আিম কমপে ২ ডজন মানুষেক িচিন

িকভােব পড়েবনঃ
[1] Open your chrome browser, go to settings, click extensions, then search Grammarly.
Download & install it. browser এর ডানপােশ উপের একটা গাল green symbol দখা যােব। এখন
আপিন pc ত য কােনা English article পড়ার সময়, নতু ন word পেল, word এর উপর double click
ক ন। দখেবন word র িনেচ ছা কের word meaning দখাে । এেত কের বারবার dictionary
search করার মেতা িবরি থেক মুি পােবন।
[2] নতু ন একটা word শখার পর এই সাইেট যান, search ক ন word , আপনার search করা word
িদেয় কমপে ১০ টা sentence পােবন। এ েলা মেনােযাগ িদেয় পড়ুন। নতু ন শখা word র ব বহার
হেব এবং TC, SE এর জন খুব কােজ িদেব। sentence েলা ২-৩বার কের reading পড়ুন।

originals এও চু র gre word use কেরেছ। lord of the rings & the Hobbit, total ৬টা মুিভর
েত কটা আিম ৬-৭ ঘ া সময় িনেয় দেখিছ, আমার target িছল আিম েত কটা word এর meaning বুেঝ
বুেঝ সামেন আগােবা। ancient type movie বিশ দখুন। এছাড়া harry potter এর ৮টা মুিভ এবং
pirates of the carribean সব েলা দখেত পােরন।
[10] আিম সারা জীবন বাংলা গে র বই পেড়িছ। GRE prep নওয়ার পর থেক English গে র বই এর িদেক
ঝুঁ েকিছ। ব দির কের ফেলিছলাম। ভািস লাইফ থেকই English গে র বই পড়া উিচৎ। নীলে েত যান
একটা বই এর দাম সেবা ১১০-১২০ টাকা িনেব। আপনার পছে র ৪-৫টা বই িকেন িনন। আিম
কেরিছলাম hunger games এর ৩টা বই িদেয়।
[11] The Daily Star এ িতিদন editorial section এ ৪টা কের article ছাপা হয়। আিম টানা ২ মাস এই
article েলা িতিদন িনয়ম কের পেড়িছ। awa এর জন এ েলা খুব কােজ আেস পাশাপািশ popular word
েলার উপর আপনার দখল বাড়েত থােকব।

Follow the usnews ranking list 2018. Based on the list start finding professors based on your
research interest. Search: faculty list of ​#Department at ​#University_name​. from this list check
professors profile. or try this one: আিম যভােব চ া কেরিছলাম সটা বলেত পাির। ধ ন আপনার reseacrh
interest - wireless communication, cognitive radio. এখন keyword িলেখ IEEE xplore এ search ক ন। ধরা
যাক ২০০টা পপােরর নাম আসেলা। বামিদেক তািকেয় দখুন িকছু option আেছ। 2017 সােল কািশত পপার েলা filter
ক ন। এরপর ধুমা USA ত publish হওয়া paper েলা িফ ার ক ন, মােন conference location দেখ দেখ এটা
করেত পােরন। শষ পয ৫০টা পপার থাকেব যােদর মেধ US author & professor হয়েতা ৩০ জন। এেদর থেক আপিন
সবেচেয় বিশ reply পােবন। আবার যােদর এই সমেয়র মেধ একািধক পপার কািশত হেয়েছ, ধারণা করা যায় তােদর হােত
ফা আেছ।

এেত কের আপনার িরসােচর সােথ সবেচেয় বিশ িমেল এমন েফসরেদর িল আপিন পেয় যােবন। এখন template ব বহার
না কের abstract, intro, conclusion এই ৩টা িজিনস পেড় যা বুেঝন সটা িদেয়ই ইেমইল ক ন। কারণ এরাই আপনার
target. এই িলে র েফসরেদরেকও যিদ আপিন গতানুগিতক ইেমইল কেরন তাহেল generic reply ই পােবন। ইেমইল করার

Yes, obviously you can mention your previous research/working experience. Writing a
paper is very appreciating. Professor will understand that u have the knowledge and

that?

Admission requirements:

Assistantship requirement: above mentioned + ug thesis/research experience (not

mandatory)+ job experience (not mandatory) + research interest + software skill etc

During application procedure, u ll be asked if u need any assistantships, u can also

mention it at ur SOP. U have to seek assistantships from professors. If the professor has
funding, most cases, after admission, the professor may recommend a student to the
dept to allow him/her TA/RA. In most cases, TA decisions are taken by the dept
(centrally) based on your profile.

Leather background থেক physics a masters করা যােব?

Why not? u must try. Lots of students are switching from electrical/mechanical to
computer science, naval architecture to mechanical etc.

GRE এর পাশাপিশ ILTES or TOFEL এর importance কতটু ? Is their value same? Which one
is more effective in getting admission in the US university?

Among IELTS/TOEFL, one of them is mandatory to get admission and assistantships​.

Both are same, TOEFL is taken by ETS-Education Testing Service. IELTS is taken by
British Council. U can take any one of them.

IELTS/TOEFL এর ে minimum কত পেত হেব?

IELTS score 6 can be safe bt more is better.

Most cases, minimum admission requirement for TOEFL is 79 but 79 is a very poor
score. Try to secure 22 in all four sections: Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening.

ভাইয়া কানটা trump card িহসােব কাজ কের? িসিজ? িরসাচ? নািক িজআরই?

everything. if ur cgpa is not good, try to achieve a higher gre score, or try to publish
research work in BD at first. it's like complementary. Higher cgpa may recover ur poor
gre score etc.

#পাসেপাট অিফেস কাজঃ
িতিদন সকাল ৯টা থেক সােড় ৯টার িভতের পাসেপাট অিফেসর কায ম হেয় িবেকল ০৫টায় শষ হয় িক ফরম জমা
নয় দুপুর ০২টা থেক ০২ঃ৩০ পয । সকােল িগেয় আেগ িসিরয়াল িদেল খুব ই ভােলা হয়, তাড়াতািড় কাজ শষ করেত
পারেবন। অিফেস গেল থেম একজন অিফসার আপনার সব কাগজপ চক কের দখেব, সব কঠাক থাকেল হােত পূরণ
করা ফরেমর লাকজনেক একটা েম পাঠােব তােদর ফরম ডাটা অনলাইন করার জন , এরপর সখােন কাজ শষ হেল ছিব
তালার েম যেত হেব। আর যারা অনলাইেন ফরম পূরণ করেছ তােদরেক সরাসির ছিব তালার েম পা েয় িদেব। ছিব
তালা, আঙু েলর চাপ আর আপনার া র িদেত হেব, *ছিব তালার ব াপাের সাদা পাশাক, সাদা টু িপ এবং চােখ চশমা
হণেযাগ না। সব কাজ শষ করার পর আপনােক একটা পাসেপাট ডিলভারী ি প িদেব; ি প টা িনেয় ভােলা কের চক কের
দেখেবন কাথাও কান িকছু ভু ল আেছ িকনা, থাকেল সংেশাধ কের িনেবন।
* ডিলভাির ি প টা ফেটাকিপ বা মাবাইেল ছিব তু েল রাখেবন, হািরেয় গেল পাসেপাট িনেত গেল অেনক ঝােমলায় পড়েত
হেব। ি প হািরেয় গেল ঐ ি প না ার িদেয় থানায় িজিড কের পের পাসেপাট ডিলভাির িনেত হেব।
#পুিলশ ভিরিফেকশনঃ
যােদর ায়ী ও বতমান কানা একই তােদর ভিরিফেকশন একবােরই শষ হেব , আরা যােদর ায়ী ও বতমান কানা
আলাদা আলাদা তােদর দুই কানােতই ভিরিফেকশন যােব। পাসেপাট আেবদেনর ০৫-০৮ িদন পর ভিরিফেকশেনর জন
পুিলশ যােব বতমান কানায় , এর ০৪-০৫ িদন পর যােব ায়ী কানায়। পিলশ ভিরিফেকশেন পুিলশেক টাকা দান করা
আইনত দ নীয় আপরাধ আপিন খুশী হেয় িকছু িদেল অন ব পার আবার জাড় পূবক টাকা চেয় বসেল িকছু করার থাকেল
করেবন; না হেল টাকা িদেত হেব। অন থা আপনার ভিরিফেকশেন ঝােমলা করেলও করেত পাের।
*অেনক সময় ভিরিফেকশেন অেনক সমস া হয়, সময় মেতা ভিরিফেকশন হয় না বা ভিরিফেকশেনর কিপ সময়মত পাসেপাট
অিফেস যায় না, সে ে মািলবাগ এস. িব. হড অিফেস িগেয় খাঁজ িনেত হেব বা মাবাইেল এস এম এস আসা পয অেপ া
করেত হেব।
#পাসেপাট ডিলভািরঃ
পাসেপাট রিড হেয় গেল আপনার মাবাইেল এস এম এস আসেব , তারপর িগেয় পাসেপাট ডিলভাির িনেয় আসেবন। অেনক
সময় এস এম এস আেসনা; তাই ডিলভািরর সময় অনুযায়ী খাঁজ িনেয় আসেবন বা দুই এক িদন পের যেত পােরন।
