67 Defensive Drills for Soccer

This document provides instructions for a defending drill called the "Sweeper game". The drill is set up in an area of 60x30 yards with goals and balls. One player from each team is designated the defensive conductor and communicates instructions from an end zone. When their team gains possession, the conductor directs teammates to "get tight", "support", and "get goal side". If the attack breaks through, the conductor acts as sweeper in a 1v1 situation to prevent a goal. Coaches should emphasize communication, readiness to defend 1v1 situations, and showing attackers inside.
