Star Collars Stitc

This document provides instructions for knitting two sizes of star collar for babies. The narrow collar measures approximately 23 cm and is suitable for babies up to 2 years old. It is knit with 167 stitches. The wider collar measures approximately 25 cm and is knit with 203 stitches. Both sizes are worked in rows of knit and purl stitches with yarn overs and decreases to create a star pattern. Star collars

Needles: 3 mm

Tension: approx 28 sts at 10 cm

Measurements: Neck line approx. 23 (25) cm. Fits children up to approx. 2 years

If you want the collar in a bigger size, CO 9 sts for each extra cm

Start each row by lifting of 1 st purlwise

First row = Back side of the work

Star collar - narrow
The collar measures approx. 23 cm and is perfect for the little babies

CO 167 sts

1st row: slip1p – knit all sts

2nd row: slip1p – k2 – *yo – k2 – k2tog tbl – k2tog – k2 – yo – k1* repeat from * to * k2

3rd row: slip1p – purl to last st – k1

4th – 9th row: repeat 2nd and 3rd row 3 times

10th row: slip 1p – k2 – *yo – k2tog tbl – k2tog tbl – k2tog – k2tog – yo – k1* repeat from * to* k2

11th row: slip1p – *p2tog – p1* repeat from * to * k1

12th row: slip1p – *k2tog – k1 * repeat from * to * k1

Break the yarn

Neck edge:

Start with right side facing up

Make an Icord edge: using needle 3 mm knit 3 sts in the first st

move these 3 sts back on to the left needle

knit 2, k2tog

Continue pattern until all sts at the neck are knitted

Bind off 2 sts and with the last remaining st, crochet a loop as buttonhole in the back of the neck

Sew in a botton

The collar measures approx. 25 cm

CO 203 sts

1st row: slip1p – knit all sts

2nd row: slip1p – k2 – *yo – k2 – k2tog tbl – k2tog – k2 – yo – k1* repeat from * to * k2

3rd row: slip1p – purl to last st – k1

4th – 17th row: repeat 2nd and 3rd row 7 times

18th row: slip 1p – k2 - *yo – k2tog tbl – k2tog tbl – k2tog – k2tog – yo – k1* repeat from * to* k2

19th row: slip1p – *p2tog – p1* repeat from * to * k1

20th row: slip1p – *k2tog – k1 * repeat from * to * k1

Break the yarn

Neck edge:
