SilicoSec® controls insects and mites in empty storage rooms and
protects grain – preventive and curative.
It consists 100 % of Diatomaceous earth, a natural mineral extracted
from the microscopic shells of fossilized sweetwater diatoms.
Mode of action
SilicoSec® is a fine almost white powder with
a strong dehydrating impact on insects and
mites. Once the insects come into contact
with the product, they dust themselves and
die within short time from desiccation. Up to
now, no resistances have been identified.
As there is no degradation of the active sub-
stance SilicoSec® does not lose it’s efficacy in
dry stored grain and storage rooms.

SilicoSec® – Application
Use in grain
Application rate: preventive: 1 kg / t
curative: 2 kg / t
SilicoSec® has to be added evenly to the
grain to receive a homogeneous mix. There-
fore it is optimal to add it by hand or appli-
cator to the moving grain stream transport-
ed by auger, elevator or conveyor. SilicoSec®
has a particle size between 2–18 mikrons.
Therefore pneumatic transport facilities are
not suitable for the mixing process or the
transport of grain mixed with SilicoSec®.
Use in storage rooms
Application rate: 10 g / qm
For good protection and effective control
of insects in empty storage rooms, all plac-
es including transport facilities have to be
cleaned carefully. After the cleaning process
SilicoSec® is applied by hand duster or blast
gun. Walls, ceiling, ground, especially cracks
and crevices have to be dusted carefully and
coated with a fine white film. This treatment
has to be done at least 14 days before stor-
age of new goods.

Important details
To receive good efficacy SilicoSec® should only be applied to grain with maximum
14,5 % grain humidity. The treatment with SilicoSec® changes the colour of the grain
to greyish without affecting colour, quality or baking characteristics of the flour.
