Note: Remember that past perfect is always linked to another event in the past (simple
past). Those two events you can link them with adverbs like “by the time”, “when”, “after”
or “before”.
Instruction: Complete the following with a sentence in the correct tense, either in “simple
past” or “past perfect”. Use the adverbs like “by the time”, “when”, etc. if they are needed.

The structure of the tag question is:
a) Affirmative sentence, + auxiliary in negative + subject ?
Ex. You cook, don’t you?

b) Negative sentence, + auxiliary in affirmative + subject?


Ex. You don’t cool, do you?

NOTE: this topic is a combination of a lot of tenses. In this topic we see future will, present
perfect, present continuous, simple present and simple past. Take that in consideration
because ever tense has different auxiliaries.
