Coach Oni welcomes listeners to the "Keep it Moving" podcast about staying physically active during social distancing. Some suggested activities include going for family walks, bike rides, or hikes outdoors; dancing together using Just Dance videos; and using exercise apps like Peloton or 7 Minute Workout that require little to no equipment. Indoor activities for rainy days include games like freeze dance, balloon volleyball, hallway soccer, and sock bowling that use basic household items and encourage movement. Hello, everyone, this is Coach oni and you are welcomed to the "Keep it moving" moving

podcast!

I hope everyone is enjoying their day, staying safe, healthy and remember to WASH THOSE
HANDS!

As I'm recording this it is a beautiful day outside the sun is shining and there's hardly a cloud in
the sky, this is just a reminder that although we are practicing social distancing we can still get
out and enjoy the beautiful sunshine.

Today on the Keep it moving podcast we are going to talk about a very relevant topic
considering everything that's going on in the world today with social distancing and
quarantining ourselves we need to find ways to continue to be physically active.

So today I have compiled a list of fun and engaging ways to help get you and your family up and
physically active.

First, we are going to start with the basics: As I stated earlier you and your family can still go
outside and enjoy the fresh air. So why not go on a family walk or jog in the park? Or if you all
have bikes why go on a family bike ride? Just remember to wear those helmets. If you are near
a trail or mountain you and your family can go on a hike. These are especially fun if none of you
guys have done it before.

Another great activity to participate in with the family is dancing! Dancing is a great way to get
the heart rate up and be physically active all while having a blast. One really good resource for
this is the Just Dance video game. You can play the game in a few ways. 1. You can purchase the
game on your game console and follow along with it that way. They have a website where you
can play as well using your phones as controllers or you can sech up "just dance" on youtube
and follow along with the videos. You cant keep score using the youtube version but its still fun
none the less. The idea here is to get you guys up and moving and doing it a fun and engaging
way.

If you are interested in a more rigorous physical activity there are some apps out there that can
help you be physically active. My personal favorite is Peloton. Its an app that has all different
types of workouts, from biking, running, bodyweight, toning, and weight lifting exercises.
Another great app is 7. 7 is an app that provides quick 7 minute workouts that can be
completed from anywhere with little to no equipment needed. A fun app for the smaller kids to
be physically active on is the NFL play 60 app. I've used this in my class with my students and
they love it. This is a fun and interactive app that demonstrates exercises from kids and keeps
track of the amount of time they are active. It also includes games that's kinds can participate in
a still be physically active.
Finally, there are always a bunch of fun games that you and your family can participate in while
in the house. Most of these games us very little supplies and most of the things needed can be
found around the house.

One of my favorite games to play at home especially with younger kids is freeze dance. This is a
very simple game, where the adult is the DJ and they control the music. Participants are to
dance their hearts out when the music is playing but when it stops so must they. You're out if
you get caught moving after the music stops.

Another great game I like to play is balloon volleyball. This can be played a couple of ways, one
is to just try to keep the balloon in the air with partners for as long as you can. If the balloon
hits the ground everyone must complete an exercise together. Another way is to play with
volleyball rules and set up a string as a net.

Hallway soccer is another good game that helps with ball control and kicking skills. To play the
game all you need is a hallway and a soft ball to kick back and forth. The objective is to try to
get the ball past your opponent while keeping the ball on the ground. Watch out for your
parent's lamps and other valuables though!

Sock bowling is a very interesting but fun game to play. All you need is 10 empty water bottles
and about 2-3 balled-up socks. Set up your bowling alley and have fun with your family.

I only listed a few but as you can see, there are plenty of ways that you and your family can stay
active during these uncertain times we are living in today. I will have more options and activity
ideas listed on my blog at [Link].

Thank you for your time and remember, KEEP IT MOVING!
