I. Brief History of the Barangay

The original name of Brgy. Bucalag is Kaniogan, Bucalag comes

from the word “bukal: which means farmers. The residents of Nagpanaoan
migrated to barangay Bucalag because most of them are farmers whose crops
are found in the place.

Brgy. Bucalag is one of the coastal barangays of Santa, Ilocos Sur. It

is bounded on the North by Brgy. Tabucolan, on the South by Brgy. Pasungol, on
the west by the South China Sea and the East by a wide agriculture land. It has a
total population of 391.

The State of Barangay Governance Report shows that the barangay’s overall
average performance rating is 0.74 or a performance level of 4. The area of Economic
Development should be the top priority for development considering that the average
rating is low to focus on the service areas to Agriculture and Fishery Development and
Entrepreneurship and Fishery Development.

In general, the level of effort which had brought about desirable performance or
condition in the areas of Administration and Environmental Management has to be
sustained.

Problematic areas have to be given full consideration. Otherwise, the place of

development and change will be slowed down by the problems. Starting on the ensuing

The CY 2018 Budget amounted to P 1,184,946.00. the expenditure program was

distributed as follows:

The Personal Services had an allotment od P407,787.22. Among the sectors, it

received the biggest share of 66.78% of the total budget.

On the other hand, the total picture of the fund utilization shows that the
barangay incurred 99.97% expenses of its budget. Overall, it indicates a .03% savings.

Significantly, the barangay spent its financial resources hugely on Personal

Services, 66.78%(%).
