Export for Compatibility


1. Purpose

This tutorial is to help you experience compatibility of midas CIM model through
Exporting substructure model. You export completed model in Parasolid, 3D PDF, and
IFC to share with other people or platform to access the model.

Initial Set-up
2. New Project

1. In Main Screen, use open button to load project file.


2. In the reference folder, open [Link] to load up the pier model.

Export to 3D PDF
3. Load library

1. In Base mode, use 3D PDF export


2. Choose “All in Current Mode” for select target since we are exporting whole pier
3. For option, select All except “include void”.
4. Press OK button to run the process and wait until save window appears.

4. Cross Section

1. Open “[Link]” and turn on 3D option on PDF.


2. You can select each element on the 3D model

1. You can use cross section view to cut sections in a axis.


2. Navigate through rebars placed in the pier.

Export 3D model file


6. Parasolid Export

1. In Base mode, use 3D PDF export


2. Choose “All in Current Mode” for select target since we are exporting whole pier
3. For option, select All except “include void”.
4. Press OK button to run the process and wait until save window appears.

Import 3D model file


7. Parasolid Import

1. In Base mode, use Import Parasolid


2. Load Pier.x_t to import.
3. You can also check different Parasolid 3d model file such as appurtenance to
integrate into the model

Export IFC model file


8. IFC Export

1. In Base mode, use IFC export


2. Choose Geometry Type for each element type.
3. Press OK button to run the process and wait until save window appears.

Import IFC model file


9. IFC Import

1. In Base mode, use IFC Import


2. Load [Link] to import.
3. You can also import IFC file from other BrIM software to load up in midas CIM.
