Role: Senior Development Manager - Vietnam

Overall responsibility for all permit, license and permission delivery on pipeline of wind and
solar projects, from concept to construction. Accountable for driving permit/license approvals
on all active projects and delivering the permissions according to the project schedule. Tasks
including but not limited to:

Wind and solar green fielding / site searching


 Represent the company in discussions and negotiations with national & provincial
government (MoIT, PC, DoIT, DPI, EZ, ect.) and local communities/landowners;
 Secure the policy decision from the local government in target provinces that allows the
company the right to develop land with high potential for wind and/or solar farms;
 Drive the pre-feasibility studies and meteorological measurement installations, securing
all necessary permissions and approvals;
 Secure the inclusion of selected sites into the provincial and national master plans;
 Lead on regional marketing/advertising to notify landowners and small developers that
can support proposed projects from inception;
 Be the company liaison with EVN (National and Regional), and EVN subsidiaries, to
determine suitable grid connection locations, and help secure the required assessments
and material to progress the development of the projects;
 Be responsible for delivering the approval of the feasibility studies by the MoIT;
 Support the engineering and development teams with potential new site identification and
selection, advising on and sourcing local data/information to guide the technical
assessments;
 Work with technical, legal, and financial resources (both internal & external) that
facilitate the project development process;

Origination
 Work with brokers, consultants, service providers and local contractors to identify
potential new locations with high potential for development, identification of new project
investment opportunities, presenting value proposition to potential partners and
stakeholders;
 Identify and follow up on other potential routes to identify developable new
opportunities;
 Understanding potential partner requirements and drafting/agreeing key terms of
partnership agreements;
 Assessment of new project investment opportunities, working with Bangkok management
and support functions on technical and commercial appraisals;
 Managing relationships with project stakeholders and following up as required,
understanding potential partner requirements and drafting/agreeing key terms of
partnership agreements;
Project Management
 Ensuring project compliance with local regulations and company policy;
 Defining permit and licensing budget, and be responsible for deliverables within budget;
 Maintaining the overall project schedule through ensuring timely deliverables;
 Reporting progress to management and tracking key risks/issues. Maintaining a project
technical execution plan;
 Travel in country for business as required.

YOUR SKILLS

 An experienced renewable energy professional with at least 3-5 years track record of
renewable development activities (or similar) in Vietnam
 Strong understanding of permitting regulation and requirements;
 Deep knowledge of Vietnamese renewable market;
 Demonstrable track record of successfully working with local government departments
and national licensing bodies;
 Good negotiation & relationship building skills, able to build and maintain rapport
internally and externally;
 Experience with public consultation and land compensation process is desirable;
 Fluent in both Vietnamese and English with the ability to clearly express complex issues
in both languages;
 A problem solver, able to demonstrate abilities to take on multiple simultaneous issues;
 Flexible in approach and time, willing to travel when required and work out of hours
when necessary (position can be based anywhere in Vietnam, but travel is part of the job);
 Reports to the regional heads of wind and solar at BayWa r.e. HQ in Bangkok.
