Rubrics Field Demo

This rubric evaluates dance performances based on five criteria: choreography, music, costume/props, discipline/confidence, and overall group performance. For each criterion, the rubric provides descriptors to assess the performance at levels of excellence from 5 to 1. Choreography is evaluated based on creativity, technical skills, and performance skills. Music is evaluated on rhythm/tempo and creativity/interpretation. Costume/props considers creativity/resourcefulness and presentation. Discipline/confidence examines execution. Overall group performance looks at entertainment value by section and as a united level.

CRITERIA / RUBRICS 5 4 3 2 1

A. Choreography
- Creativity
Demonstrate excellence in movement. Understand dance genre.
Shows interesting formations, level, patterns and presents a story
within the piece.
- Technical Skills
Dance performed with great attention and execution to quality of
movement, body position, placement on dance space and other
details of dance
- Performance Skill
The dancers create believable characters on stage and are able to
engage the audience completely through their performance. They
perform with excellent energy and effort. Facial expressions and body
language are always used to generate a strong interest and
enthusiasm.
B. Music
- Rhythm / Tempo
Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on
rhythm throughout the dance production.
- Creativity / Interpretation
Extremely outstanding choice of music that accurately expresses the
theme presented. Appropriateness of the music to the choreography;
quality and intensity of the musical performance ensemble.
C. Costume / Props
- Creativity / Resourcefulness
Costume and props are unique and uses inexpensive / recycled
materials innovatively / created
- Presentation
Performer were able to present the character and convinces the
audience. Appropriateness and artistic use of props to the
choreography.
D. Discipline / Confidence
- Execution
Synchronization in the execution of the dance steps/movements;
confidence and enthusiasm of the performers; organization and
discipline of performers prior to, during and every performance.
E. Overall Group Performance
- By Section
Entertainment value, atmosphere and stage presence of each section
contributed to the story of the production.
- As Level
United as one with captivating performance. Ended the production in
a high note as a group.
