CHAPTER V
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter will provide the summary, findings of the
study. Then, conclusions will be discussed based on researcher
insights gained regarding study finding and limitations. In
addition, three sets of recommendations are presented. The first
set of recommendations is directed towards institution. The set
of recommendations are for ABM students. Finally, a set of
recommendations is presented for the future students that will
experience work immersion.
SUMMARY
FINDINGS
A questionnaire-based survey has done to show the
effectiveness of work immersion to ABM students.
50 random respondents were asked to answer the
questionnaire which is divided into three major parts. The first
one is about the respondents work immersion venue, the second
one is about the sufficiency of 10-day work immersion and
awareness and the last one is about the effectiveness of work
immersion for students.
After the analysis of the survey questionnaire, the
following results have shown:
FIGURE 1
This shows that 88% of the respondents were assigned to
have work immersion into local government units and only 12% of
them have trained under private establishments, different banks.
(a) Table 1
This shows the relevance of having a sensible connection of
the respondents to their workplace;
(1) Relatedness of work immersion job to their working
field.
- As ABM students have done their work immersion on
local government units and private establishment, 64%
of 50 ABM students said that their work immersion is
related to their working field wherein 34% of them do
not.
(2) The administrative officers are approachable.
- In their 80 hours of work immersion job, majority of
them found the administrative officers approachable
while working on their working place.
(3) Co-workers treat them as employee-employee.
- In their two-week experience of having job and being
an employee, their co-workers treat them as a real
employee who works with them.
(4) Perform professionally in the workplace
- Assessing ABM students’ performance, 96% of the
respondents act professionally where they were
assigned to have their work immersion.
(b) Table 2
This shows the ABM Students’ performance and awareness.
(1) Tasks are appropriate as ABM students.
- ABM students are in the field of accounting, auditing,
business operations, managements and other works
inside the office, but in the work immersion they have
done, only 52% of the respondents’ experience on doing
tasks are appropriate.
(2) Perform well the assigned tasks.
- Despite of inappropriateness of some tasks, all the
respondents still do the tasks that are assigned to
them very well with enthusiasm.
(3) Applied the academic learning to their work immersion.
- Due to different designations of ABM students, some of
them have done their work immersion on banks and most
of them are assigned in local government units, only
66% of the respondents applied their learnings but the
34% of respondents do not because their tasks were not
aligned with their course.
(4) Encountered difficulties during their work immersion.
- 60% of the respondents handled their tasks/jobs with
ease without being thrilled with the hardship
eventually, 40% of them encountered difficulties.
(5) Work immersion is beneficial.
- Majority of the respondents found the work immersion
beneficial. Whether it is aligned with their working
field or not, they still believe that their experience
of working will be a big help for them as they have
real job in the future.
FIGURE 2
Since it is just a two-week experience of work immersion,
completing the 80-hour from 8am to 5pm with one-hour lunch
break, 60% of the respondents think that having this little time
is not sufficient to learn more but 40% of them still agreed
that the time limit is enough to learn.
A set of an open-ended question were asked to 50
respondents regarding their competencies enrichment in both
skills development and behavioral growth.
The most important thing that they have learned is to be
professional to their job. They learned on how to be responsible
during work. They improved their communication skills through
working with cooperation with their co-workers and communicating
with other. The work immersion also boosted their self-
confidence on facing different people.
In generalization of their answers, work immersion does
really have a great impact on the improvement of their
competitive skills and behavioral growth.
Table 3
This will show how effective the work immersion is for
Students.
As the researchers perceived insights of the respondents
regarding the effectiveness of work immersion, there are several
reasons why other respondents tell and agreed that this work
immersion that they have been done is effective, but not all the
respondents think that their work immersion is not effective due
to the sole reason that it is not related to their working
field.
COMCLUSIONS
The purpose of the study is to investigate the
effectiveness of work immersion in local government units and
private establishment to ABM students of St. Anthony College of
Calapan City Inc.
After the analysis of the data perceived, the following
conclusions are made.
1. The work venue is not the basis of how one can see the
effectiveness the work immersion to students, either
assigned on local government units or private
establishments, one can see their improvement. As ABM
students do their work immersion, they have created a
good relation to the employees of the said offices even
though the tasks assigned to them were not related to
their strand.
2. Due to some unrelated tasks that have been assigned to
them and to difficulties sometimes being encountered,
they still perform very well with applying their
learnings from school and especially working with
professionalism.
3. The work immersion that have been done by ABM students
had a great impact to the development and improvement of
their skills and their behavioral growth.
4. In the overall view of the findings, the work immersion
of ABM students is effective despite of any reasons of
not having relatedness to their working field, it is
admitted that each of the students learned a lot in the
offices they have been assigned. They learned not only in
the field of accounting, auditing, management or any
office works, but also the learning of how to
intelligently interact and create good relation to the
co-workers with confidence and professionalism.
5. In the 80-hour time limit of work immersion of the ABM
students, still they can use all the knowledge and
learning they have got in their future.
RECOMMENDATION
The following recommendations are divided into three
sections. The first section presents a set of recommendations
towards institution. The second section is a set of
recommendations to ABM students. Finally, a set of
recommendations is presented for the future students that will
experience work immersion.
Recommendation for the institution;
1. The institution must assign the students in the work venue
that is related to the working field of the students.
2. They should conduct assessment to students’ improvement
after doing the work immersion to see how a student excel
from its own experience.
Recommendations for ABM students;
1. All the skills that have been developed and improved during
their work immersion must be valued by them. It is just a
small thing but has a great impact in students’ growth as a
person.
2. They must cherish the experiences and memories that they
have in the work immersion because they learned and
benefitted from it.
3. ABM students should thank the institution as well as the
offices where they were trained.
4. Assess yourselves on what skills that were developed or
improved in you.
5. In the future, never forget to apply the learnings they
have got in the work immersion because it had a big impact
to their personal growth as professionals.
Recommendation for new students that will experience work
immersion;
1. They should learn how to adopt new environment and build a
good relation to their co-workers.
2. They should always work with enthusiasm and professionalism
despite of sometimes experiencing hardships on working.
3. Apply the learnings that you have gain from the school.
4. Within the 80-hour work immersion, they should do the best
that they can.
5. Before leaving the office, make sure that you learned or
improved something on your skills within that day.
