Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Gender Equity

University of Nebraska at Omaha
6001 Dodge Street
Omaha, NE, 68182

Greetings Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Gender Equity,

I hope this letter finds you well; my name is Dalton Meister and I am writing to you today to provide you with a letter of
recommendation to support the candidacy of Torie Walenz for the Chancellor's Commission on the Status of Gender Equity
(CCSGE) Scholarship. I cannot hope to signify how highly I recommend Torie for this honor; however, I hope this letter may
begin to convey their significant contributions to the advancement of our campus concerning the inclusion of diverse gender
identities and toward the advancement of gender equity.

In my time knowing Torie, I have had the pleasure of watching them serve as the Student Director of a Student Government
Agency at the University of Nebraska at Omaha that endeavors to create a shared space of inclusion for LGBTQIA+
populations and their allies, the Queer and Trans Services (QTS) Student Agency. This agency, as an executive organ under
the Student Government, has been well served by Torie’s expert guidance, temperance, and strong character. As a Student
Director, Torie has sought to advance not only the community served under the mission of QTS, however, they have also
developed a plethora of inter-agency collaborations, such as the tri-agency initiative to provide the opportunity for students
on campus to meet an award-winning author, Roxanne Gay, who then came to campus to discuss intersections between queer
identity and feminism. These inter-agency collaborations have resulted in an unprecedented wave of student involvement in
agency activities, intentional and impactful dialogues concerning the state of inclusion on our campus, and a general sense of
community amongst those who previously had no channel to interconnect and communicate.

In reflecting on Torie’s commitment to the diversification and endeavor toward gender equity on our campus, I am simply
stunned by their perseverance and determination to effect positive social change Each and every day, Torie leads the students
of this university in a manner that guides each of us to be more mindful, more intentional, and more inclusive; I can think of
no more deserving candidate to receive this honor.

Respectfully,
Dalton Meister
