JANUARY 2020
CREDIT UNIT: 3
PRE-REQUISITE: -
LECTURER: Dr. Norwahyu Jusoh / AP Dr Mohammad Tazli Azizan
OBJECTIVE: This course is a required component of Body of Knowledge (BoK) in Chemical
Engineering profession. It is designed to equip students with the fundamental of
Chemical Engineering such as introduction to the chemical industry, introduction to
chemical engineering calculations, techniques of problem solving, material balance and
energy balance for various system, combined material and energy balance. This course
will help student to take up challenges in designing and evaluating the future needs of
chemical engineering processes.
SYNOPSIS: This course covers the chemical engineering calculations, fundamental principles of
material and energy balance and problem solving techniques.
LEARNING OUTCOME:
CLO1: Define and analyze the conservation equations for a given process
CLO2: Interpret available data and apply appropriate equations for determination of flow rates, compositions
and temperatures in a process flow sheet
CLO3: Perform material mass and energy balance calculations for a given process
