1. Topic
A STUDY OF TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT AT HCL BPO
2. Introduction
Indian economy is one of the fastest growing economies of the world
and it is predicted that by 2020 India would be amongst the top four
economies. India has witnessed a shift from only an agrigarian
economy
to a major player in IT service industry.
India is undoubtedly one of the most favored BPO destinations of the
world. This raises the question why most of the big MNCs are
interested
in outsourcing their operations to BPOs in India. The answer is very
simple- India is a home to large and skilled human resources. India has
inherent strengths, which have made it a major success as an
outsourcing destination. India produces the largest number of
graduates
in the world. The name of India has become synonymous with that of
BPOs industry.
Besides being technically sound, the work force is proficient in English
and work at lower wages in comparison to other developed countries
of
the world. India also has a distinct advantage of being in a different
time
zone that gives it a flexibility in working hours. All these factors make
the
Indian BPOs more efficient and cost effective. In order to meet the
growing international demand for lucrative, customer-interaction
centers, many organizations worldwide are leveraging their business
processes to scale up their operations in India with a view to optimize
their sources of revenue.
GROWTH OF INDIAN BPO INDUSTRY
National Association of Software and Service Companies said that
India's
booming information technology enables services and business
process
outsourcing industry would continue to perform robustly and
expressed
confidence that it will turn in an annual growth of around 50 per cent
for
the next four to five years. The studies conducted by NASSCOM and
leading business Intelligence Company, McKinsey & Co. the Indian
IT/BPO segment is expected to employ over 1.1 million Indians by the
year 2008.
Market research shows that in terms of job creation, the ITES-BPO
industry is growing at over 50 percent. An estimated 70,000 new Jobs
expected in 2005 in the field pf ITES.
On the other hand BPO and outsourcing services would generate
around
1, 25,000 new Jobs in 2005. McKinsey & Co. predicts global market for
IT-enabled services to be over $140 billion by 2008. In that the
opportunity for India will be around $ 17 Billion
