1.0 SCOPE:

This document covers the static & Dynamic analysis for pump foundation in

2.0 DESIGN PHILOSOPHY:

The pump and motor are mounted on an common skid which is supported by a rectangular block foundation. The block
foundation is designed for the pump and motor weight as per vendor drawing. The total weight of the pump, motor & skid
works out to be higher than 2270 Kg. Hence, as per Clause. 3.3 of Doc. , foundation is checked for
Static & dynamic conditions.

3.0 DATA:

3.1 Material Data

Concrete
Design Compr. Strength of concrete F'c = 35 N/mm2
Unit weight of concrete gc = 25 KN/m3
Unit weight of water gw = 10 KN/m3
Concrete cover for foundations Cc = 75 mm

Reinforcement
Yield Strength of steel fy = 460 N/mm2
unit weight of steel = 78.5 KN/m3

3.2 Soil Data

Unit weight of soil gs = 18 KN/m3 (From Geo tech report )

Coefficient of friction(Soil&Concrete) m = 0.4 (Assumed)

3.3 Ground water table:

Water level is assumed to be at finished grade elevation for critical effect.

4.1.4 Stability Limits:
Considering improved below the foundation as per Geo tech report
###
Net Allow. Bearing Pressure qa = 255 kN/m²
50% of the allowable soil bearing pressure should be considered as per
Gross Allowable pressure = ### = #REF! kN/m²
FOS against Sliding FSliding = 1.5
FOS against Overturning FOT = 2
FOS against Buoyancy FBUO = 1.2

4.2 STATIC LOADS

4.2.1 Pump Weight:

Pump Weight, Pp = 1152 kg = 11.30 kN
Pump rotor Weight, Ppr = 345.6 kg = 3.39 kN (if no vendor data, assume 30% of Pump wt)
Motor Weight, Pm = 2359 kg = 23.14 kN
Motor rotor Weight, Pmr = 707.7 kg = 6.94 kN (if no vendor data, assume 30% of motor wt)
Base Weight, Pb = 1293 kg = 12.68 kN
Other Po = 0 kg = 0.00 kN

Total weight of pump, WP = Pp + Pm + Pb + Po = 47.12 kN > 22.27 KN

Weight of concrete fill inside the skid Wcf1 = 4.165 x 4.165 x 0.2 x 25 = 86.7 KN

As per Cl. 3.3, , if pump weight exceeds 2270 Kg (22.27KN) it is recommended to go for dynamic analysis.

4.2.2 Buoyancy Force:

Buoyancy Force Fb = LB x BB x D x gw
= ### = #REF! KN

4.3 PRELIMINARY FOUNDATION CHECK:

4.3.1 Check for Plinth Size:

Minimum bolt edge distance, Dmin = 150 mm = 0.15 m
Minimum edge of skid to concrete,Cmin = 75 mm = 0.075 m

Therefore
Min. plinth length required = ( 2 x Dmin ) + La = ( 2 x 0.15 ) + 4.1 = 4.4 m
= ( 2 x Cmin ) + Ls = ( 2 x 0.075 ) + 4.165 = 4.315 m
Min. plinth length required = Max of the above = 4.4 m### #REF! m
###

Min. plinth width required = ( 2 x Dmin ) + Wa = ( 2 x 0.15 ) + 1.2 1.5 m =

= ( 2 x Cmin ) + Bs= ( 2 x 0.075 ) + 4.165 = 4.315 m
Min. plinth width required = Max of the above = 4.315 m### #REF! m
