Welcome to the Module “ Cleaning and Preparing Rooms for Incoming


Guests”. This module contains training materials and activities for you to
complete.The unit of competency “Clean and Prepare Rooms for Incoming
Guest”contains knowledge, skills and attitudes required for a Housekeeping NC II
course.You are required to go through a series of learning activities in order to
complete each of the learning outcomes of the module. In each learning outcome
there are Information Sheets, Operation Sheets, Job Sheet and Activity Sheets.
Follow these activities on your own and answer the Self-Check at the end of each
learning activity.
If you have questions, don’t hesitate to ask your teacher for assistance.

This module deals with the knowledge and skills Required in preparing room for
guests according to industry standards.

NOMINAL DURATION : 18 HRS.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

 Select correctly and prepared for use of cleaning, supplies and equipment required
for servicing rooms
 Identify and select or order accurately in sufficient numbers of supplies for trolleys in
accordance with establishment procedures
 safely loaded trolleys with adequate supplies in accordance with establishment
procedures
 Identify correctly rooms requiring service based on information supplied to
housekeeping staff
 Accessed rooms in accordance with the establishment’s customer service and
security procedures
 Stripped beds mattresses and pillows and linen are checked for stains and damage
rooms are checked whether guests left any valuables
 Segregate items with stains immediately and forwarded to the Laundry Department
for proper processing
 Replace bed linens in accordance with establishment standards and procedures
 Clean rooms in correct order and with minimum disruption to guests
 Clean and check all furniture, fixtures and fittings are in accordance with
establishment procedures and hygiene/safety guidelines
 Check, replenish or replace room supplies are in accordance with establishment
standards
 Identify pests promptly action is taken in accordance with safety and establishment
procedures
 Check rooms are for any defects and are accurately reported in accordance with
establishment procedures
 Record damaged items in accordance with establishment procedures
 Report promptly any unusual or suspicious person, item or occurrence in

After reading this INFORMATION SHEET, YOU MUST be able to know the
standard procedure in loading trolley and identify their proper location..
Trolley – used for stocking cleaning supplies and chemicals so as to
make cleaning easier and faster.

Standard procedure in loading trolley

1. Clean and dust shelves and containers before placing the guestroom
supplies inside the trolley.
2. Check the treads that might have twirled around the wheels. These
threads will make it hard for the cart to be pulled, thereby causing injury.
3. Check the rubber bumper if they are worn out.
4. Check the screw or the sharp edges that could catch your clothing and
could cause cuts.
5. Request for guestroom supplies like linen amenities, cleaning chemicals
and cleansing tools from your supervisor.
6. Stock the trolley with requested supplies according to allocated par stock
or according to the number of guests.
7. Label all the chemical sprayers to avoid mixing with other chemicals.
8. Stock the cart by putting all the guestroom amenities on the top shelves.
9. Folded bed sheets and towels should be filed on the second shelf of the
cart.
10. Put all the chemicals at the lower level of the shelves including the
tools like scouring pad, rags, spatula, etc.
11. Clean the soiled linen and trash canvass.
