1. PRODUCT AND COMPANY IDENTIFICATION

2. MATERIAL INFORMATION
This product is a combination of hydrocarbons obtained by subjecting used motor lubricating oil to various
treatment processes to remove water, heavy solids and light solids.

PRODUCT SOURCES: Used lubricating oil collected from car and truck workshops, used engine oil, used
crankcase oil, used machinery oil, used motor oil.

3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION

This is a combustible product but not a highly flammable product and not at risk of igniting from sparks or
electrical devices. Pressure and flame are required for combustion.

FLASHPOINT: >90°C (typically >100°C)


HAZARDOUS CLASSIFICATION (HSNO): 6.3B, 6.7B, 9.1C

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

EYE CONTACT: Flush immediately with large amounts of water for 15 minutes. If redness or irritation is
present, continue flushing until irritation subsides. If irritation persists, seek medical advice. If the product is
hot, seek medical attention immediately for burns.

SKIN CONTACT: Wash contact area with soap and water. If clothing is contaminated, minimize contact
with skin by removing clothing. If product is hot, run cold water over the affected area or submerse in cold
water and seek medical attention for burns.

INHALATION: This material has a low vapour pressure and is not expected to present an inhalation
exposure hazard at ambient temperatures. If product is hot, contaminates may present a vapour hazard –
avoid inhaling any vapours.

INGESTION: This product does not present an ingestion hazard. If a very small quantity is accidentally
swallowed it may act as a laxative. No medical treatment is necessary under ordinary circumstances. If
cramping and/or diarrhoea are present following ingestion, seek medical attention.

5. FIRE PROTECTION AND FIRE FIGHTING

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Use dry chemical, Foam or Carbon Dioxide

SPECIAL MEASURES: Fire fighting with water is not recommended as oil and water do not mix and adding
water to the product may spread the fire.

HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, oxides of Sulphur and
Phosphorous may be generated as products of combustion.

6. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

This product does present a risk to the environment if it is not contained. Unprotected works and waterways
can become contaminated if this product is released to the environment.

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES: Contain spill immediately. If this product should escape from its
primary container and/or associated pipework, it should be contained using appropriate absorbent booms and
pads. Protect waterways and drains with rubber mats.

SPILL CLEAN UP: Minor spills can be attended to by site personal with the appropriate knowledge and
skills. Spill clean up can be attended to by the product supplier or the local fire service.

SPILL RESPONSE EQUIPMENT: ‘Oil only’ absorbent products should be used for spill containment and
clean up. Spill response equipment and advice are available from the product supplier.

REPORTING: Large spills should be reported to the local council and/or environmental authority.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

HANDLING: Keep product clear of naked flames or heat sources. When handling use Personal Protective
Clothing including PVC gloves, safety goggles, cotton overalls, fully enclosed footwear.

STORAGE: Refer to EPA for the storage requirements of hazardous products. It is recommended that all
hazardous substance storage facilities have some form of secondary containment. For advice on, or the supply of
storage facilities, contact your product supplier. Refer to AS1940 for Bulk Storage Purposes only.

LABELLING: All product storage facilities should be labeled in accordance with the HSNO regulations.

8. TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
Labels Required: Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods Class 9 and Environmentally Hazardous Substance
(Road Transport only)

9. DISPOSAL

For disposal of unused or unwanted product contact the product supplier or a local licensed liquid waste
operator.

DO NOT dispose of product into waste water or storm water systems.
