Description of Change to the Customer:
The Intel PRO/1000 PT Quad Port Server Adapter, EXPI9404PT MM#882127 and
EXPI9404PTBLK MM#882125 (code named Kirkwood Retail) will End of Life.
Customer Impact of Change and Recommended Action:
Customers should place their Last Time Orders by December 30th, 2009 ,
with the Last Shipment Date of April 30th, 2010.
Orders are Non-Cancelable and Non-Returnable after March 31st, 2010.
It has come to our attention that the PCIe Switch component used on the
products below may not train correctly in a PCIe Gen 2.0 slot. SKUs that
may demonstrate this behavior include the following:
Intel® PRO/1000 PT Quad Port Server Adapter (Kirkwood)
SKUs: EXPI9404PT, EXPI9404PTBLK
Intel has corrected this problem on newer boards including the Intel®
PRO/1000 PT Quad Port LP Server Adapter (Kirkwood Low Profile Adapter).
This communication is provided because some older boards may exhibit this
problem when installed in a PCIe Gen 2 slot.
Intel's recommendation is to not use these boards in a system designed
with PCIe Gen 2 slots. For Gen 2 systems, Intel recommends using the
following quad port adapters. The recommended replacement products for
the Kirkwood Retail adapters are:
• Intel® PRO/1000 PT Quad Port LP Server Adapter (Kirkwood Low
Profile) SKUs: EXPI9404PTL MM#884309 (Retail single 10-pak),
EXPI9404PTLBLK MM#884311 (Retail blk 5-pak)
• Intel® Gigabit ET Quad Port Server Adapter (Portville QT)
SKUs: E1G44ET MM#897699 (Retail single 10-pak), E1G44ETBLK MM#897700
(Retail blk 5-pak)
