This study aimed to determine the Influence of Social Media among HUMSS 12-

influence the student in terms of school, lifestyle, social interaction and health.
This research design was used in the conduct of the study with the use of
questionnaires as the main instrument in gathering data from thirty-six (36) respondents
using stratified random sampling.
Most of the respondents are females; total of 27 with an average age of 17 years
old, studying at President Ramon Magsaysay State University under the Humanities and
Social Sciences strand. Based on the findings obtained in the study the researchers
conclude that: Personal Profile; out of thirty-six (36) respondents 22 or 61.11 % belong to
the bracket of 15-17 years old and 14 or 38.89% belong to the bracket of 18-20 years old.
And in sex/gender of the respondents twenty-seven (27) or 75% are females while nine
(9) or 25% are males. The respondents agreed that social media influence their studies,
lifestyle, social interaction and health.
The respondents agreed that social media has influence in terms of their studies,
lifestyle, social interaction and health.
There is no significant difference between the effects of social media and the
profile of the respondents.
Furthermore, from the findings and conclusions obtained in the study, the
researchers recommended that in terms of school, the students must balance their time on
using social media and their priorities as a student. Moreover, know when to meet
classmates for the greater result of a group activity as it promotes better quality of
iv
communication; In terms of lifestyle the researchers recommended that the students know
the possible outcomes and changes that may occur by excessive patronage of what is
latest when relying on social media; and in terms of social interaction, the students can
differentiate the difference between personal interaction and communicating using social
media as they differ from each other and researchers recommended in terms of health,
they should be certain on information that they are getting, reading, and relying in social
media sites because if it is incorrect information, it might affect their health. Since the
students agreed on the presented effects of social media, they should nurture themselves
with it and not take it for granted to commit malicious acts. Also, the school could
conduct seminars regarding the influence of social media. Further study should
investigate the influence of social media in terms of school, lifestyle, social interaction,
and health on students for further results or outcomes.
