Area 5 - ( S - H) Then, Area 5s - 5h: Example 1

The document discusses methods for calculating the areas of different shapes. It asks if triangles are regular and how to find the area of one triangle if they are not regular. It then provides a formula to find the area of a pentagon using its side length and height, and works through an example problem to calculate the area of a pentagon with given measurements.

Are these triangles regular? How can you tell?

Since these triangles are not regular, how would we find the area of ONE of them?

What is a quick way to find the area for the entire pentagon?
So the formula on how to find the area of pentagon is
Area= 5•( ½ s • h )
Then, Area= ½ 5s • 5h

Example 1:

Use the area expression above to calculate the area of a pentagon with side
length or the perimeter of s = 4.00cm and a height or apothem of h = 2.75cm.

Area= ½ 5 (4.00cm)• 5 (2.75cm)

Area= 137.5cm^2
