Freedom to chose what we wear on any occasion is a part of expressing our individuality but it
can be used improperly. Nowadays students show up in classes in short skirts, skimpy tops, low
pants, ripped clothing. Not only is that quite inappropriate for a learning environment, but it is
also compromising reputation in our community. Adopting a dress code could prove to be
beneficial for both sides.
Firstly, in a civilized society nobody has an unrestricted freedom. We all must learn discipline,
how to be respectful of others and how to operate in the real world in order to be successful.
Dress code would shift their focus to learning and improving their skills and they can always
express themselves through art or creative writing. Another benefit of having a code dress is that
it will prepare students to dress properly for different places. You do not wear the same clothes
at the beach and at your office.
Lastly, the image of our college is extremely important . Community is the place where we will
find our future employers and our future clients. We are our biggest advertisement, and our
poor choice of clothing could influence their decision to consider us less serious or professional.
In conclusion, there are many reasons for implementing a dress code at our college. Getting an
education a hard enough and there is enough peer pressure without everyone having to worry
about what they are wearing. If a dress code were required, there would be less emphasis on
how you look and more emphasis on what you learn, which is the main reason for enrolling in
any college.
