Sheet Pile Design

The document provides information on the design of cantilever sheet pile walls. Some key points: - Sheet piles are connected steel sections used to build continuous retaining walls with minimal site dewatering required. - Design considerations for cantilever sheet piles up to 20 feet high include calculating embedment depth, pile section, and anchor block design. - The pressure distribution diagram is made by calculating active and passive earth pressures up to the point of rotation and at the bottom of the sheet pile. This allows determining the depth and bending moment.

Design of Sheet Pile Wall

•Connected or semi-connected sheet piles

are often used to build continuous walls to
retain the lateral pressure caused by soil or
external load.

•In contrast to the construction of other

types of retaining wall, the building of sheet
pile walls do not usually require dewatering
the site.

•Sheet piles are also used for some

temporary structures, such as braced cut.
