GLOW LED-TECHNOFEST 2016
RULES:
No Borrowing / lending / exchanging / for burned up LEDs. Points to be given on the basis of LEDs used
according to: Points=(LEDs used correctly) – (Leds burned if any). Points for Neatness, Creativity, Teamwork.
Presentation & aesthetics points. After ruling, the top team with the best structures would be awarded.
GUIDELINES:
Some good values to try:
As led forward voltages: Led current:
Red and green: 2.0 volts 20mA will work for most regular leds.
Blue and white: 3.0 - 3.5 volts Super bright leds can go from 30mA up to several amps.
LEDs can be placed in series providing some features are taken into account. The main item to include is a
current-limiting resistor. Without this your LEDs would burn.
A LED and resistor is called a string. A string can have 1, 2, 3 or more LEDs.
Three things must be observed:
1. MAXIMUM CURRENT through each string = 25mA.
2. The CHARACTERISTIC VOLTAGE-DROP must be known so the correct number of LEDs are used in any string.
3. A DROPPER RESISTOR must be included for each string.
For Blue and white LEDs use this combination. Only 3 leds with 100Ohm resistor (1/8
watt). The no. of parallel copies can be increased by yourself.
For Red and Green LEDs use this combination. Only 5 leds with 47-56Ohm resistor
(1/8 watt). The no. of parallel copies can be increased by yourself.
