Torsional Strength Calculation for Beams

The document provides design calculations for the torsional strength of a concrete beam based on Indian code IS 5100.5:2017. Key details include the beam dimensions, material properties, reinforcement details, and design forces. The calculations determine the torsional capacity (Tus = 738.62 kNm) based on the code equations for longitudinal strain in the concrete (εx = -0.00022) and torsional resistance (Θv = 27.44 d = 0.48 rad). Effective shear depth and shear capacity are also calculated. Design checks are performed to ensure adequate moment capacity and that stresses are within allowable limits under service and ultimate load conditions.
