Mechanical Engineers for Robotics

We are seeking Mechanical Engineers with a strong passion for robotics to develop wearable
assistive exoskeletons based on knowledge in the area developed in Europe via a
collaborative Indian-UK venture. All the candidates should be qualified with a 1st class degree
or a 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline and have
research and/or industrial experience of working in related domains. It is essential to be highly
motivated to learn and develop new skills designing the software systems needed for the
advanced robotic systems.
Successful applicants will become part of the Indian Mechanical Engineering Team working
closely with the other Technical Teams located in India and in UK. The Indian team will be
expected to work UK office hours for maximising collaborations between the Indian-Uk teams
via strong IT links.
Some travel between the India-based and UK-based engineers is expected and hence
applicants should be willing to travel to UK for carrying out dedicated activities.
Applications are invited for positions of Team Manager, Senior Engineer, Engineer, Junior
Engineer for Software Engineering can be filled. Masters and/or PhD qualification in
appropriate disciplines together with and relevant industrial experience will be expected for
the senior engineering roles.
The following are essential requirements for all Mechanical Engineer roles:
• BEng in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Knowledge in 3D CAD design software using software such as Solidworks, Catia, etc
• Sound knowledge of materials properties and usage
• Design variety of simple and detailed mechanisms
• Perform static and dynamic analysis on simple and sophisticated assemblies
• Design for manufacturing (3D printing, CNC, etc)
• Contribute to R&D teams as needed to design and develop needed electrical/electronic
solutions
• Support and collaborate with team members in India and UK on technical developments
as per workplan and produce documents, presentations, project plans, etc. as required
• Strong communicator in English (spoken and written)

As many of the following as possible are desirable/essential especially for the senior roles:
• MSc/PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or related discipline or extensive
industrial experience
• Good analysis skills for detailed modelling and simulation of mechanical systems in
realistic scenarios
• High level of proficiency in CAD and software i.e. SolidWorks, MatLab
• Ability to create 2D drawings for manufacture (DFM) according to ISO 8888
• A good grasp of planning for robotics, machine learning and perception and sensing
for robot guidance
• Understand automated systems, robots, 2D/3D computer vision path.
• Experience of the full lifecycle of new product development engineering
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes
• Experience of new product risk analysis and risk mitigation
• Knowledge of Matlab and ROS
• Knowledge of classical, modern and intelligent control systems theory applied to
robotics (linear and non-linear systems)
• Hands on approach with good manual skills for tasks such as component manufacture,
mechanical assembly and system construction and testing, etc
