2.2. “EASYLINK 2000” PROGRAM CALIBRATION RESULTS SCREEN

The first screen after starting the program is Calibration Results screen

The screen can be logically divided in three parts:

 menu bar
The main purpose of the tool bar is to provide the possibility to the program user to activate the specific
program function as it is shown on the next picture.

 Toolbar

There are four buttons on the toolbar:

 Icon “Open”
The purpose of this icon is to enable the user to perform two actions:
By pressing the icon the calibration results data from the marked row in the calibration table
will be transferred in the default template
By pressing the little arrow on the right of the icon the user will get the list of all prefabricated
templates and after template selection the calibration results data from the marked row in the
calibration table will be transferred in the selected template

 Ic on “De le te ”
The icon “Delete” is used when the user deletes data from the calibration results data table
shown on the screen. There exist two situations when this action can be performed:

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 5 / 32

 before document creation
It is possible that some data, which are stored in B-20 calibrator and transferred using by
“EasyLink 2000” program into PC, are not usable by any reason. Also it is possible that
some data are duplicated or meaningful. In such a case the user can delete these data
by using this icon,. As these data haven’t been saved before, their deletion will be
permanent and they can not be restored.

 after document creation

The program will automatically delete the calibration results data from the table for the
instrument which calibration document is saved and approved.

 Icon Import Data

By activating this icon the user can transfer data from B-20 or S 8000 multifunctiion calibrator
into PC. When the little arrow on the right of the icon is pressed, the following list will open:
 From B-20
 From S 800

By activating the selected row the program system starts [Link] program and transfers
all calibration reports from B-20 or S 8000 multifunctional calibrator (which has the number of
calibration points not = 0) into PC and stores them on the hard disc.

 Program module icons

At the left on the screen there are present the following icons:
 Templates - Calibration document generation:
 Calibration Results – the table with data transferred from B-20 & S8000
 Calibration: History – approved calibration documents’ data base

 the table with the data transferred from B-20 & S 8000 Calibrator

The rest of the screen is the table shown below with the data previously transferred from B-20 &
S8000 calibrator:
The data are set in the table in the order how they were saved in B-20 i.e. when the calibration has
been done. The data from the last calibration are set at the bottom of the table.
The table comprises the following data:

 Instrument Tag Number is the datum which can not be changed by user. The program has no
logical control over this datum i.e. if the technician performed two consequent calibrations of the

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 6 / 32

same instrument and did not delete calibration results of the first job, there will exist two different
calibration reports for the same Instrument Tag Number.

 Date of calibration is datum generated by B-20 or S 8000 (set by user in B-20 or S8000) as a
part of calibration data and can not be changed.

 Time is datum generated by B-20 or S 8000 (set by user in B-20 or S 8000) as a part of
calibration reports data and can not be changed.

 Number of Cal. Points is datum generated by B-20 or S 8000 and represents the number of
points in which the instrument calibration has been performed and it is a part of calibration reports
data which can not be changed.

 Document saved gives user the information about activities performed with the calibration data
for the specified instrument. When the user generates calibration document and saves it the
program will store letters S in appropriate column.

2.2.1. Calibration Document Generation

Before starting this action the, the user has to define the working calibration template i.e. the template in
which the calibration results data will be entered. To perform this action the user will mark in the calibration
table the appropriate row with the calibration results data and press the icon “Open” or double click the
same row. This will automatically open the “default” template. To enter data in other specific template the
user will press the little arrow on the right of the “Open” icon and the list of all prefabricated templates will
be shown on the screen. The user has to select the template and after that to press the icon “Open” or
double click the data.

The activation of this icon will open the screen with one of before defined Calibration document
templates and the user can start entering the data in the predefined mask. These data will be entered in
the upper part of the document while the lower part (the two tables) will be filled in with the transferred
data not to be editable by the user.

[Link] Document Upper Part

This part of the document can not be changed by the user. On the left is the user address, in the middle is
automatically entered Instrument tag number and on the right is MUR & SCANDURA logo.

[Link] Document Center Part

The procedure to enter a text on the predefined place (variable) is very simple:
The user will position the mouse on the specified variable and start typing in the data which will fill in the
box starting from the right end (align left).

After entering data the screen will have the following shape

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 8 / 32

On the screen there is visible only the upper part of the document while the rest of the document is
available with the activation of a scroll key.

In the line “SCANDURA Calibrator S/N” the program will fill in the used test instrument serial number.

The calibration setup and test data are transferred in two separate tables:
Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 9 / 32
 Calibration Setup Table
These data represent B-20 or S 8000 Calibrator setup data i.e. data necessary for proper calibrator
adjustment to perform instrument calibration: Reference reading (REF), Reading from device (RDG)
and Auxiliary input/output (AUX).
The detailed meanings of the table columns are given in “Multifunction Portable Calibrator - Series
B20; Operating and Maintenance Instruction - part 2.3”.
 Reference reading (REF) is the measurement of the signal (or generally speaking of the
physical entity, for instance pressure or temperature) entering into the device under test.
 Reading from device (RDG) is the measurement of the output signal coming from the device
under test.
 Auxiliary input/output (AUX) could be either an input or an output signal measurement. A
typical application is the 24V supply source to a transmitter under test. It can be used anyhow at
a choice for whatever function. For instance, the set point simulation, the data loading through
the keyboard (an example the ambient temperature recording),etc.

 Test Data Table

These data represent instrument calibration data (Test data): REF, REF % range, RDG, (RDG(%) -
REF(%)), AUX and mark As found / As left.
The detailed meanings of the table columns are given in “Multifunction Portable Calibrator - Series
B20; Operating and Maintenance Instruction - part 2.3”.
 In the first column (REF) there are values which are sent from B-20 or S 8000 Calibrator to the
input of the instrument being calibrated.
 In the second column (REF,% range) there are the same values expressed in the percentage of
the instrument measuring range.
 In the third column (RDG ,% range) there are the values which are red or measured by B-20 or
S8000 Calibrator from the output of the instrument being calibrated.
 In the forth column there are the same values expressed in the percentage of the instrument
measuring range.
 In the fifth column there are given the instrument errors expressed in the percentage of the
instrument measuring range (RDG(%) - REF(%)).
 In the sixth column there are the notes about used auxiliary functions if any.
 In the last seventh column there are the marks if the calibration points are taken before (as
found) or after (as left) calibration.

[Link] Document End

At the bottom of the last page the following data will be automatically transferred by the program or
manually filled in the document by the user:

 In the line Remarks there are all data which are stored during calibration in B-20 or S 8000 Calibrator
under submenu “Remarks”.

 Automatic Error Calculation

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 10 / 32

If the instrument maximum allowable error is set in the calibrator, then the program will provide on the
screen the calibration process maximum error expressed in the percentage of the instrument
measuring range together with the following messages:
 “Instrument out of tolerance” if the maximum error left after instrument calibration process
has finished is greater than allowable.
 “Instrument passed calibration” if the maximum error left after instrument calibration process
has finished is less than allowable.

 The automatic error calculation is done in the following way:

 If the instrument under calibration is found inside specified accuracy during taking “as found
data” (in the table there will be filled in only “as found” data) then this maximum instrument
error will be compared with the maximum allowable error and according calculation result the
document will be tagged “Instrument passed calibration” or “Instrument out of tolerance”.
 If during calibration there are performed any corrective actions and when calibration is
finished and only one “as left” datum is stored in the calibrator (in the table there will be filled
in “as found” and “as left” data, or “as left” only), then maximum instrument “as left” error will
be compared with the maximum allowable error and according to calculation result the
document will be tagged “Instrument passed calibration” or “Instrument out of tolerance”.

 Page Numbering
According to the number of calibration points i.e. the length of the adequate calibration table, the
instrument calibration document can be longer than one page. In such case the program will expand
the document on adequate number of pages and at the left bottom of each page (except the last one)
there will be written the statement “Page “a”/”b” where “a” is the number of current page and “b” is the
total number of pages. At the right page bottom there will be the message “Document continues...”.
On the last document page the numbers “a” and “b” are equal and the message “Document
continues...”. doesn’t exist.

 B-20 Operator (S8000 Operator)

The datum “B-20 Operator (S8000 Operator)” is two characters long data field transferred from B-20
or S8000 Calibrator which can’t be changed by user.

 Calibration Date
The datum “Calibration date” is transferred from B-20 or S800 Calibrator and can’t be changed by
user.

 Calibration Done by
The datum is the data field which is provided to be filled in by the user (the name and the surname of
the technician who filled in the data in the document).

 Approval by
The datum “Approval by” is the data field which is provided to be filled in by the user (the name and
the surname of the responsible person who approved the calibration document).

 Approval Date
The datum “Approval date” is the date when this document has been saved in EL20 Data bank and it
is set automatically by computer (system date).

2.2.2 Icons

The following icons are active on the screen:

Save View Graph

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 11 / 32

[Link] Icon “Save”
When all data have been entered in the calibration document, the user can commit the document on the
PC hard disk by using the icon “Save”. It is possible to save the document regardless of the mode how it is
presented on the screen (normal or preview).
When the data are successfully saved, in the last right column in the main data table there will be mark “S”

2.3. “EASYLINK 2000” PROGRAM TEMPLATE SCREEN

The main function of this program module is to enable the user to create the calibration document
templates.

The first screen after starting the program is Template screen

The screen can be logically divided in three parts:

 template icons
 program module icons
 saved templates field

2.3.1. Template Icons

The data transferred from B-20 or S 8000 multifunctional calibrator differ according to the instrument type
and therefore it is very convenient to have a few standard calibration document templates. The template
means the predefined empty calibration documents with the filled in only labels while the length of the
variables is defined only. The work with the templates can be divided in five steps:
 create new template (icon “New”)
 create new template using existing template (icon “Open”)
 delete template (icon “Delete)
 import data from B-20 & S8000 (icon “Import)

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 15 / 32

[Link] Icon “New”

To start with the creation of the new calibration document creation the user will activate in the program
group “Templates” .the icon “New”
By activating this icon the user will get the following picture on the screen:

In the upper section there are positioned the icons and combo box to choose the font type and size as
well as the letters shape (bold, italic and underline).
:

Save Label Text font type size shape

The space booked for free text entry is dotted. The row of dotted lines determinates the space where the
user can enter label or variable data (the same as a grid in text processor programs).

There exist few logical groups:

 Document upper part

The upper left part is reserved for the user name and address. The method of data entering is
explained in the chapter [Link].1.3 Icon “Text” .
In the middle of the document below the title “CALIBRATION DOCUMENT” are preprinted the words
“Instr. tag no.” To their right the program will automatically transfer the tag number of the instrument
that has been calibrated and this datum can’t be changed. In the upper right part corner of the
document the program is seated the user logo.

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 16 / 32

 Document center part

This space is reserved for user’s free data entry and this is the main part of the program. The way of data
entering is explained in the chapters [Link].1.2 Icon “Label” and [Link].1.3 Icon “Text” .

 Document lower part

In this part of the document the program will automatically transfer the data from B-20 or S8000
Calibrator and these data can’t be changed. From the point of the template creation the user can’t
interfere or perform any document changes.

The transferred data will be filled in two separate tables:

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 17 / 32
 Upper table
These data represent B-20 or S 8000 Calibrator setup data i.e. data necessary for proper
calibrator adjustment to perform instrument calibration: Reference reading (REF), Reading from
device (RDG) and Auxiliary input/output (AUX).
The detailed instructions about specified values are given in “Multifunction Portable Calibrator –
Series B20; Operating and Maintenance Instruction – part 2.3”.
 Lower table
These data represent instrument calibration data (Test data): REF, REF % range, RDG, (RDG(%)
– REF(%)), AUX and mark As found / As left.
The detailed instructions about specified values are given in “Multifunction Portable Calibrator –
Series B20; Operating and Maintenance Instruction – part 2.3”.

 Document end (bellow the data table)

In the space on the calibration document below the table the program will automatically transfer from
B-20 or S8000 Calibrator the following data: Remarks, Maximum instrument error, B-20 or S8000
operator’s initials and Calibration Date (these data can’t be changed by the user). The following data
will be during document creation: Calibration done by, Approval date and Approval by.

[Link].1 Icon “Save”

When the user has finished with the creation of a new or modification of the existing template, he will save
it by using the icon “Save” under the existing or a new name.
After activation of “Save” icon, the user will get the following picture on the screen:

If the user is saving the existing but modified template he will get the message on the screen” Do you want
to replace the existing template” and after affirmative answer the new creation will replace the old one. If
Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 18 / 32
not, the window shown on the picture above will automatically open and the new creation can be saved
under the new name.

[Link].2 Icon “Label”

Now the user defines labels and variables in the predefined space on the document (the space which is
dotted on the screen - dots will not be printed on the document). The label represents data which are
always present on the same type of the templates such as for example “Instrument Relationship Input -
Output”. The variables are data which are associated to the labels and they are written to their right. In our
example for the label “Instrument Relationship Input - Output” the associated variable will be “Linear” or
“Square root”. This means the labels are the same for the instruments which are using the specified
template (instruments of the same type) while the variables depend on the data for the specified
instrument.
If the user tries to write the label or the variable into the space which is not permitted for entering data, in
the moment he activates one of associated icons (“Label” or “Text”) and moves the mouse, it will change
its shape on the screen. In the space where dat entering is permitted the cursor has the cross shape (+)
while where the entering of data is not permitted, the cursor has a round shape (O).

 the process of defining label position and content

 the position of the label on the document
First the user has to activate with the mouse the icon “Label” and after that he has to position the
cursor on the place in the document where this label will be written. If ones keeps pressing the
mouse it will widen the space for entering the data for this label and this will be marked as a
rectangle on the screen. The lower left corner of the rectangle is the place where the first letter of
this label will be written (the place where the mouse has been first pressed).

 the label data content

Now, when the place for this label is specified, the user can enter data (letters) into the marked
place. The size of the rectangle will automatically adapt according to the number of the letters
typed in, their size and shape. The font shape and size can be chosen by opening the associated
combo box which contains all fonts which are installed in MS WINDOWS - MAIN - CONTROL
PANEL - FONT.

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 19 / 32

When the process of defining label position and content is finished, it is enough to click by mouse outside
the rectangle and the cursor will again change its shape into the cross (+), i.e. ready for defining the new
label.

[Link].3 Icon “Text”

To mark the place for the variable the user has to activate with the mouse the icon “Text” and after that he
has to position the cursor on the place in the document where this variable will be written. If the user
keeps pressing the mouse, he will widen the space for data entering for this variable and it will be marked
as a light gray rectangle on the screen. The lower left corner of the rectangle is the place where the first
letter of this variable will be written (the place where the mouse has been first pressed). The variable
content will be entered later depending of the data for the specified instrument.
After creation of few labels and associated variables, the calibration document can have a following
shape:

If the user wants to change some of the characteristics of the specified label or variable (its position on the
document, the font size and shape, etc.) he has to mark the specified label or variable and move it by
using the mouse on some other place on the document.

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 20 / 32

[Link] Icon “Open”

The new template can be created in two ways: by using an empty template and filling it with data or using
existing template and modifying it. In the later case the user will select by mouse one of existing
templates, the most similar one to the shape which he wants to create.

After activation of “Open” icon or by mouse double click, the user will get the following picture on the
screen:

When the chosen template is on the screen the user can perform the following actions by using the
mouse:

 select existing label or variable by clicking it by mouse and move it to the new place on the document
or by using the function key “Del” delete it from the screen.

 activate with the mouse the icon “Label” or “Text” (the mouse will change its shape from the arrow into
the cross), select existing label or variable by clicking it by mouse and change the data content
(letters) or font size and shape.

 add a new label or variable by activating with the mouse the icon “Label” or “Text” (the mouse will
change its shape from the arrow into the cross), by clicking it by mouse position it on the appropriate
place on the document and enter new data content (letters) with adequate font size and shape.

Easy Link 2.000 User Manual Page: 21 / 32

[Link] Icon “Delete”
The icon “Delete” is used when the user deletes data from the calibration results data table
shown on the screen. There exist two situations when this action can be performed:

 before document creation

It is possible that some data, which are stored in B-20 calibrator and transferred using by
“EasyLink 2000” program into PC, are not usable by any reason. Also it is possible that
some data are duplicated or meaningful. In such a case the user can delete these data
by using this icon,. As these data haven’t been saved before, their deletion will be
permanent and they can not be restored.

 after document creation

The program will automatically delete the calibration results data from the table for the
instrument which calibration document is saved and approved.

[Link] Icon “Import Data”

By activating this icon the user can transfer data from B-20 or S 8000 multifunctiion calibrator into
PC. When the little arrow on the right of the icon is pressed, the following list will open:
 From B-20
