engineering division basically concerned with the activities like planning, construction,
designing or manufacturing of structures. The chemical industry is concerned with engineering
activities like construction, design and operation of plants and machinery of chemical products
like drugs, synthetic rubber etc. Electrical engineering primarily deals with all engineering
activities like manufacturing of devices for generation of electricity or designing devices for
transmission of electricity. This electrical engineering division is also concerned with the
designing and manufacturing of electronic devices including computers and it's accessories.
The mechanical engineering division specifically deals with designing and manufacturing of
power plants, engines or related devices and the industrial engineering is principally concerned
with the processing of production like laying out plants etc. Engineering industry also comprise
of fields like Aeronautical engineering, where engineers supervise designing of aircraft,
missiles etc.

RMM Engineering Products and Technologies features a wide range of precision
machining capabilities, including a full complement of computerized and manual turning
centres, as well as drilling & welding capabilities. Our CNC lathe machining capabilities offer
small to very large capacities. Our CNC machining department, equipped with CAD/CAM
software, has the ability to download customer drawing files from anywhere in the world,
greatly streamlining our machining processes. This has given us the ability to provide our
customers with shorter turnaround times and a lower cost-per piece. Our manual heavy-duty
Lathe having the centre height of 18” to 16ft bed length, so heavy/big diameter machining work
done simple and accurate.

III. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

IV. LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
• Time duration given for the industrial training was very less to learn about the entire
organization.
• Certain information in the company was not revealed by the employees.
• Few employees of the company did not answer all my questions.

V. PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED DURING THE STUDY
• The total count of employees working in the organization is very less.
• There is no coordination between the employees of the various departments in the
company.
• No proper welfare measures were given for the employees.
• Production place was not comfortable for the employees because the place was so
congested.

6.2 Marketing Department
In RMM Engineering Products, the marketing department has overall responsibility for
growing revenue, increasing market share and contributing to company growth and
profitability. In a small business, the marketing department may just be one person, or it may
include a marketing director or manager plus marketing executives responsible for functions

such as advertising, publications or events. It is responsible for promoting the products, ideas
and mission of the enterprise, finding new customers, and reminding existing customers that
you are in business. It organizes all the activities that are concerned with marketing and
promotion. This department consist of two members who are responsible to reach the customer
via tele calling, media and direct visits to the customers. Marketing team regularly goes for
field visit and also by tele calling. By doing so they generate 5 leads in a week which the sales
team makes it as a prospect.
The marketing department works with internal or external product development teams
to develop new products or improve existing ones. The department analyses sales of existing
products and identifies gaps in the product range where there may be opportunities for the
company. Marketing employees provide development teams with information on customer
needs and preferences to help them identify the features or improvements to incorporate in new
products. Later in the product development process, the marketing department sets prices and
prepares plans to launch the product.
Cooperation between the sales and marketing departments can improve sales
performance and speed up business growth. The marketing department can provide sales teams
with high-quality leads by running advertisements that include a reply mechanism, such as a
coupon or telephone number, or by encouraging visitors to the company website to register
their details in return for a free newsletter or special report. Marketing also prepares
presentations for the sales team and supplies them with stocks of promotional material to give
to customers and prospects.

6.3 Finance and Accounts Department
In RMM Engineering Products, the accounts department is handled by the accountant
who is responsible to record and report the cash flows, both in and out, of a company. This
department has some key roles and responsibilities, including accounts receivable, accounts
payable, payroll, financial reporting, and maintaining financial controls. The business functions
of a finance department typically include planning, organizing, auditing, accounting for and
controlling its company's finances. The finance department also usually prepares the company's
financial statements.
In order to maintain good relationship with vendors making sure that everyone gets paid
on time is a vital role. The role of the accounting department includes keeping an eye on
opportunities to save money, for example, determining if there are discounts or incentives
available for paying certain vendors more quickly. At the very least, AP should be scheduled
to assure that the least amount of money has to go out per payment, i.e., no late payment
charges.
Another critical duty of the accounting department is to account for and track
receivables, including outstanding invoices and any required collection actions. Accountant is
responsible for creating and tracking invoices. The responsibility here includes assuring that
customers pay those invoices on time, so a system of friendly reminders is crucial.
Payroll is a critical function of the accounting department and includes making sure all
employees are paid accurately and timely. In addition, proper tax is assessed and tax payments
are done on time with state and federal government agencies. The primary reason to collect
data properly in the accounting software is to prepare financial reports that can be used for
budgeting, forecasting and other decision-making processes. In addition to these, other reports
are also needed for communicating with investors, banks and other professionals who play a
vital role in the growth of the business.
Financial controls include reconciliations, dividing the responsibilities and following
the GAAP standards of accounting principles, all of which are implemented with a view of
fraud and theft prevention. The role of the Controller is to ensure procedures are set up properly
to manage that process without errors.

6.4 Information Technology Department
IT is an industry that automates things for the benefit of humankind, IT helps to make
the manufacturing process less cumbersome and more automated. IT helps drastically in
delivering just-in-time insights, swift visibility, and seamless innovation for implementing new
age solutions.
Consumers are spending truckloads in emerging economies, but the focus now is much
on manufacturing excellence and innovation rather than just state-of-the-art machine
production. Manufacturers have to push their industry further and farther in terms of complex
routines especially, make-to-order and make-to-stock processes so that they can deliver
products on a configure-to-order requirements market. Intense competition is one of the key
points of concern for the manufacturing industry. Manufacturers have to develop and deliver
cost-effective decisions, which are sure to stand the test of time. The regulations also impose
flexible controls so that the enterprise thrives in the right direction.
Countering Supply chain complexity is important since the traditional supply chain is
now not in use. Companies are procuring information and machinery from low-cost centers
that are currently very popular. The highly complex supply chains are hence full of hassles,
which prompted the need for efficient management and optimization. Realizing value from all
IT investments is also a challenge for the manufacturing sector, but that is now changing. With

Global manufacturers spend heavily on several operations and for increasing

models. The latest trends also indicate various multi-dimensional services spanning IT that aim
to transform businesses, change the design, and boost value-added services including
infrastructure management and the like.
In this department they develop websites and apps to the customer and other various IT
and business solutions. The major work of the IT department is to develop websites for various
organizations like Amma IAS Academy. Coimbatore Tennis Association, Mahendra Pumps,
etc. They are providing various services which includes Share Point Services, Cloud Solutions,
Enterprise Application Services, Product Engineering, Mobility Services and Web
Development. And their products include Talent 360, RMM Dahlia, Tennis Leaguer and RMM
Design.

6.5 Human Resource Department
In RMM Engineering Products and Technologies, the HR Department consist of only
one person where they provide various career opportunities. The human resources
department handles a range of different functions within an organization. The department is
responsible for hiring and firing employees, training workers, maintaining interoffice
relationships and interpreting employment laws. They look after the recruitment needs of the
company which includes interviewing and selecting new hires, is the responsibility of the
human resources department.
HRM is the “planning, implementing, and evaluating programs for the people in an
organization, in a fashion consistent with the organization's strategies and values.” Human
resource management includes decisions about a number of activities involving the
employees of the organization. The major activities comprising HRM systems can be
classified as staffing (e.g., employee recruiting, selection, promotion,
termination), reward (e.g., pay, incentives, performance management),
and development (e.g., employee training) activities. Human resource management
decisions and activities have been linked to a number of outcomes for the organization,
including employee performance, satisfaction, retention, attendance, and product/service
quality
The Functions of the HR Department includes recruitment strategy planning, hiring
process, performance evaluation and management, promotions and redundancy, industrial
and employee relations, record Keeping of all personal data, compensation, benefits, bonuses
etc., with payroll, Confidential address to the internal ‘customer’ in relation to the problems
at work.

VII. CONCLUSION
On the whole internship was a new experience where I came to know about the
production process of motor pumps. I gained practical knowledge on functioning of the RMM
Engineering Products and Technologies. I had the opportunity to learn about the production
process followed in the RMM Engineering Products and Technologies. I gathered useful
information about the functioning of the various departments such as Production Department,
Marketing Department, Accounting Department and IT Department in the RMM Engineering
Products and Technologies.
I learned the different facets of working within the company. Related to the study, I
learned more about the manufacture, assembly and testing. I have experienced that it is of
importance that education objective that we have to aware of the industrial aspects of the topics
we study.
The internship was good to find out what our strengths and weaknesses are. This helps
to define what skills and knowledge that I have to improve in the future. I can confidentially
assert that the knowledge we gained through this industrial training is sufficient to contribute
towards the future endeavors. At last this industrial training has given new insights and
motivation to pursue a career in core production department.
