Troy Movie Notes

The following assignment will be due the day after we are finished watching the movie Troy. While
watching the film students should follow and analyze the movie as a true historian and try to learn more about the
ancient Greek culture, gods and way of life.

Questions
All questions answered must be completed on a sheet of notebook paper in paragraph form-
minimum of six sentences. Students are encouraged to fill in the answer to all questions WHILE watching
the film.

Part I- You must complete four of the five questions!

1) Who spends the twelve days of celebrating Hector’s life more effectively the Trojans or the Greeks?
Explain.
2) Agamemnon main focus is power and Achilles is the one person that can help him with this the most.
However, why is it that Achilles and Agamemnon hate each other throughout the whole film? ( List
examples from the film)
3) List THREE EXAMPLES found in the film that relate to information discussed in class. Hint- Keep in
mind: engineering an empire, forms of government, fighting style, the city etc.
4) How much faith do the people of Troy put into the gods? Is this a strength or a weakness? Explain.
5) Explain and analyze the weapons, armor, and military tactics used in the movie Troy. Give examples from
the film.

Parts II- Of the following questions you choose ____________ to complete the second part of the assignment.
All answers must be in complete sentences and in paragraph form.

6) How important is Achilles to the Greek army? List examples from the film.
7) Why was attacking the Greeks a mistake and ultimately leads to the downfall for the citizens of Troy.
8) Why was the death of Achilles cousin the best thing that could happen to the Greek army?
9) Who spends the twelve days of celebrating Hector’s life more effectively the Trojans or the Greeks?
Explain.
10) What is the prophecy that Achilles is given by his mother? If given these two choices what would you do?
Explain.
11) What are Achilles strengths? What is Achilles weakness? Is there any irony in how the film ends? Think
about it and remember his name!
