Endogenic Forces: Folding, Faulting, and Volcanism

The document discusses endogenic forces that shape the Earth's surface. It identifies folding and faulting as the two major landforms created, including block mountains and rift valleys. It also outlines different types of faults like normal, reverse, and tear faults that occur on both large and small scales. Additionally, it describes three main endogenic processes - volcanism, metamorphism, and earthquakes - that further alter the planet's geology, producing igneous and metamorphic rocks through intrusive and extrusive volcanism and applying pressure and heat during metamorphism.

 Volcanism – also known as magmatism or volcanic activity or

igneous activity is an endogenic process which leads into
the formation of IGNEOUS ROCKS.
 Intrusive Volcanism – When magma is forced into the rocks
INTRUSIVE VOLCANISM that make up the earth’s crust.
 Extrusive Volcanism – Lava ejected onto the surface of the
earth before solidification.
 Metamorphism – an endogenic process which occurred when there
is pressure and heat applied to geologic structures which
leads into the formation of METAMORPHIC ROCKS.
 Earthquake – a sudden shaking or vibration in the earth’s
crust.
