Part I. Situation/ Scenario/Setting


The researcher identified the problem, about analysis in word problem
solving in Mathematics subject. The purpose of his study is to help the
Grade IV pupils understand and analyze the word problem in Math. It was
found out during First Quarter Examination result most of the Grade IV
pupils have difficulty in answering word problems. The researcher believes
that both pupils and the researcher will be benefited on this study.

should go hand in hand. It cannot be denied that in analyzing word
problems is important because of its practical application to individual
works. However before, a pupil can successfully solve a problem; he/she
should fully understand the concepts of the four fundamental operations in
Mathematics.
Teacher- Pupil interaction is much needed to fasten their analytical
proficiency. The main reason for the difficulty in solving problem is that they
find hard to comprehend the problem.

Part II. Findings and Insights


I firmly believe that this study will help find specific and appropriate
solutions that will help the pupils in developing their comprehension skills
particularly in solving word problems in Mathematics.

Part III. Summary

The researcher main purpose of this Basic Research is to develop the


knowledge and skills in analyzing the word problems in Mathematics. The
correct process, methods, strategies should be used in teaching the pupils
how to analyze the word problems. Develop their strength and discover their
weaknesses in analyzing the situation found in the problem is the key. To
understand and comprehend what the solution should be used in order to
arrive the correct answer is the most important thing in this study and
perhaps the most challenging one.

Findings and Insights is to motivate the pupil’s interest in


understanding of the word problems to be solved. The researcher has
limitations and focus on the proficiency level in analyzing word problems.
Lastly the reflection about this Basic Research study is how the difficult the
problem, the learner’s potential aspect or knowledge is very important to
analyze.
