How to learn for GRE?

General:

To be general, Magoosh online prep materials for GRE. (mainly the video lessons are
great) and also you can use this platform very well to write as many practice test as you
want before ending up writing the actual GRE test, It gives you a real insight on how
you perform in each of the sections (Quant, Verbal) and helps you improve in the
specifics that you didn't do well. So overall a great platform to learn for GRE. I will
highly recommend these and I also used Manhattan Strategy Guides which are very
helpful to learn everything from basics.

Math:

1. Magoosh video lessons for revision

2. Manhattan Strategy Guide for revision
3. GRE official Quant guide for revision and format check
4. Magoosh practice tests

Note:

Keep a cheat sheet with all the formula which you come across while going through the
video lessons or while trying to solve a problem.

Verbal

1. Memrise to improve vocabulary (this worked out well for me) (Highly
recommended)
2. Membean
3. Read Books
4. Read online magazines.

Practice! Practice! Practice!

Note:

Keep a note of the words you come across. Try to make a (could be a funny story) using
the learnt vocabulary .

What's on the GRE?

Format:

AWA (2 essays) (Issue, Argument) = 30 min + 30 min = 1 hour

Quant (2 sections, 20 questions / section) = 35 min + 35 min = 1 hour 10 min

Verbal (2 sections, 20 questions / section) = 30 min + 30 min = 1 hour

Experimental (1 section, , 20 questions / section) = 35 min (if Quant) + 30 min (if
Verbal) = 35 min (maximum)
(could be Quant or Verbal) (not scored)

Total time = 1 hour + 1 hour 10 min + 1 hour + 35 min = 3 hour 35 min (maximum)
(Always AWA comes first, but Quant, Verbal and Experimental sections can be
shuffled in any order)

Quant Section:

1. Quantitative Comparison (40% of questions in Quant)

2. Numeric Entry
3. Data interpretation
4. Multiple choice Multiple answer questions
5. Multiple choice Single answer question.

Verbal Section:

1. Text completion (one, two, three blanks each blank will have a set of choices) - 7 per
section
(typically three blank questions are very difficult, you will get a score of one only if you
choose all the answers to all the three blanks correctly there is not partial grading)
2. Sentence Equivalence - 4 per section
3. Reading comprehension - 9 per section out of which 2 can be (Paragraph Argument)

Scoring Range:
Quant: 130-170
Verbal: 130-170
Total: 260 - 340
AWA: 0.0 - 6.0

GRE is section wise adaptive not question wise adaptive.
