STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Success today in any field requires a strong foundation in management and

technical skills. The days of engineers being considered to be only a part of the scientific
community are long gone. In order to remain relevant in the modern economy engineers
must redefine their roles. A blend of management concepts and technical expertise are
essential to solve the complex issues that exist in today’s increasingly technical and
global economy.

I was introduced to mathematics and the physical sciences while at school. My

fascination for science and keen interest in the ever-growing world of technology
motivated me to take up Engineering. My undergraduate education at Gokaraju
Rangaraju Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Hyderabad in the department of
Mechanical Engineering has not only given me a certain set of skills but has also helped
me understand my fields of interest and my academic strengths on which I hope to build
on.

My penchant for the field of mechanical enginnering developed when I

accompanied my father. I worked with him for about three months where I grasped
nuances of managing a business enterprise. I understood the production practices, the
inventory of raw materials, accounting strategies and the workforce involved. In a very
short span I developed a liking towards it.

During this experience, I discovered the natural asset I possessed which is being
able to manage and put my point across with people. I soon realized that the perfect
solution would be to see myself responding to my true-calling in life. This is when I
decided to do masters in Mechanical Engineering, as it would polish my Mechanical
Engineering skills, also without isolating the technical knowledge that I acquired in
undergraduate level.

The education system in America literally opens the whole world to us. The focus
of curriculum is not mere book knowledge but also on acquiring hands-on experience and
practical application of that knowledge. A good university can literally get the best
education the world has to offer to a student of any discipline.

I always had a desire to go in-depth into whatever I take up whether academically

or practically. As I plan out my next career steps, I seek a diverse environment that will
shape me not only on a business level, but also on a personal level. I have no doubt that
your university program is a perfect match as I found my research interests to closely
match those you offer. It is one of the most dynamic universities providing personal
attention and extensive academic resources along with superior education in the field of
Mechanical engineering. The flexibility of the curriculum will give me the broad-based
education I need to widen the scope of my knowledge and skills which can help me have an
edge over the others.

I hope to absorb the best practices from the business world while keeping myself
abreast with cutting edge technologies and techniques from the field of engineering. With
this Degree I will be equipped to take on responsibilities of our family owned business
when I return back. I am looking forward to create my own niche in the international
family of students and inculcating experience at your university.
