A GRADER , also commonly refer to as a ROAD GRADER OR MOTOR
GRADER, is a construction machine with a long blade used to create a flat surface
during the grading process. Typical models have 3 axles with the Engine and cab
situated above the rear axle at one end of the vehicle and 3 rd axle at the front end
of the vehicle, with the blade in between. Graders are commonly used in the
construction and maintainance of dirt road and gravel roads. They are also used to
setnative soil foundation pads to finish grade prior to the constructions of large
buildings. Graders can produce inclined surfaces ,to give chambers to roads.

The LeeBoy Motor Graders are all about high torque, performance and reliability.
This cutting edge technology is powered to do anything from building a road and
cutting ditch to moving earth , doing site work and fine grading. It is backed by the
cutting-edge LeeBoy technology with proven expertise in the US for five decades.

❖ MOTOR GRADER SPECIFICATIONS :-

- 150/173 HP 4-stroke , turbocharged , 6 cylinders , after-cooled Cummins

Fig 2.3 Crawler Excavator

12
(Hydraulic Excavators) are heavy construction
equipment consisting of a boom, dipper (or stick), bucket and cab
on a rotating platform known as the "house". The house sits atop
an undercarriage with tracks or wheels. They are a natural
progression from the steam shovels and often mistakenly
called power shovels. All movement and functions of a hydraulic
excavator are accomplished through the use of hydraulic fluid,
with hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic motors. Due to the linear
actuation of hydraulic cylinders, their mode of operation is
fundamentally different from cable-operated excavators which
use winches and steel ropes to accomplish the movements.

Chapter 3. SAP & ERP in LeeBoy
SAP : Its an ERP package or Software.

ERP = Enterprise Resource Planning.

Enterprise = Any Bussiness organusation.
Resourse = (Men, Material, Machines,Money / Capital) ; 4 M’s.
Planning = Effective utilization of resources.

ERP
• It covers all the techniques and concepts for best utilisation of the resources
of the enterprises to maximise the profit.
• ERP is based on the integrated management of all the departments in the
Enterprises.

Question. How do ERP helps in organisation?

• All the data is available in central database.
• Eliminates data redundancy (Data duplication).
• One point entry of data.
• Data is updated and available real time
• Modular system
• Can implement only required function.
• Other can be easily integrated later.
• Manager can utilise their time in analysis and spend less time in coordination
efforts.
• Best business practice inbuilt.
• Improves the customer satisfaction.

24
Problems faced by non-ERP organisation.

• Every department need information from different departments i.e. Data

But if different departments works on different softwares then their will be
not smooth functioning or transferring and understanding between
departments so no free flow of information. So time wastage and it increases
the length of production cycle.

Example flow of data in organisation

Purchase department Production cycle

Production department Precruitment of material

Many depatments comes in b/w

Sales Finished Goods

Production Planning & Control Sales

The more is the length of production cycle the more is the working capital
required and so more interest is to be given to banks and it decreases the profit of
the company

• Top management has to spend its time in the prepration and analysis of the
strategy to run the organisation but due to conflicts between the different
departments make them loose time in briefing coordination in various
departments and hence it put a negative imapact on company effectiveness
in running an organisation / company.

• Conflict between Production planning and Control department and

Production department.

Production Planning It wants to maintain minimum stock of material

& to minimise the carrying costs. Materials like
Control raw material , finished goods, packing material,
Spare parts wants to maintain minimum carrying
cost and capital from banks.
Materail Conflict

Production Needs optimum stock for easy flow of production

Process so more material needs.

25
• Same invoice will be rewarded two or more times when their will be not
proper coordination between different departments. So it will be lose of
Human resources & Money & most important time.

Purchase Invoice to supplier

Finance & Accounts department Purchase depatmrnt

Duplication of invoice or Duplication of work.

• Finance Generate max rate of investment of share holder’s. To max

Accounts profit it always tries to reduce the expenditure.
Department

Capital Conflict

Marketing Creat market by advertise / promotion to increase sales and

for it they have to do External Expenditure.

SAP CO (Controlling) module facilitates coordinating, monitoring, and optimizing all the
processes in an organization. It controls the business flow in an organization. This module

32
helps in analyzing the actual figures with the planned data and in planning business
strategies.

Two kinds of elements are managed in CO −

• Cost elements
• Revenue elements
These elements are stored in the FI module.

Activities Involved in SAP CO

• Cost Element Accounting (Overview of the costs and revenues that occur in an
organization)

• Cost Center Accounting

• Activity-Based-Accounting (Analyzes cross-departmental business processes)

• Internal Orders

• Product Cost Controlling (Calculates the costs that occur during the manufacture of
a product or provision of a service)

• Profitability Analysis (Analyzes the profit or loss of an organization by individual

market segments)

• Profit Center Accounting (Evaluates the profit or loss of individual, independent

areas within an organization)

33
Sales & Distribution Management (SD)
SAP SD is one of the most important modules in SAP. It has a high level of integration
complexity. SAP SD is used by organizations to support sales and distribution activities
of products and services, starting from enquiry to order and then ending with delivery.

SAP SD can monitor a plethora of activities that take place in an organization such as
products enquires, quotation (pre-sales activities), placing order, pricing, scheduling
deliveries (sales activity), picking, packing, goods issue, shipment of products to
customers, delivery of products and billings.

In all these processes, multiple modules are involved such as FI (Finance Accounting), CO
(Controlling), MM (Material Management), PP (Production Planning), LE (Logistics
Execution), etc., which shows the complexity of the integration involved.

Activities Involved in SAP SD

• Setting up Organization Structure (creation of new company, company codes, sales
organization, distribution channels, divisions, business area, plants, sales area,
maintaining sales offices, storage location)

• Assigning Organizational Units (Assignment of individual components created in

the above activities with each other according to design like company code to
company, sales organization to company code, distribution channel to sales
organization, etc.)

• Defining Pricing Components (Defining condition tables, condition types, condition

sequences)

• Setting up sales document types, billing types, and tax-related components

• Setting up Customer master data records and configuration

34
Material Management (MM)
Material Management deals with movement of materials via other modules like
logistics, supply chain management, sales and delivery, warehouse management,
production and planning.

Chart 3.8 MM Process

Logistic Execution (LE)

Logistic Execution can be divided into two sub-modules, i.e., shipment of goods (purchase
to procurement process) and warehouse management (storage of goods). These two
modules are integrated with sale and distribution, material management, and production
and planning.

35
Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
As the name SRM suggests, this module deals with the effective and efficient transition of
products and services between an organization and its suppliers. The main process covered
in this section is procurement of products like direct materials, indirect materials, and
services. This module can effectively integrate with planning, accounting, and inventory
system.

Chart 3.10 SRM Process

Procurement process with SAP Enterprise Buyer comprises of the following major steps

• Shopping Carts
• Approval of Shopping Cart
• Sourcing of Requirements
• Purchase Orders
• Purchase Order Approval
• Confirm Goods/Services
• Confirmation Approval
• Process Invoice
• Invoice Approval

36
Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
CRM deals with end-to-end customer related processes. CRM is designed to centralize the
data related to all the customers associated with an organization. It helps an organization

• Maintain its sales, services, and build marketing strategies according the market
demand and customer data analysis.

• Remain focused on its customers and via information analysis, help the business to
know more about its customers.

• Improve sales and services and building better relationships with customers.

Human Resource (HR)

The most important objective of master data administration in Human Resources is to enter
employee-related data for administrative, time-recording, and payroll purposes.

A new employee can be hired without using Recruitment. Instead you can hire someone
by running a personnel action in Personnel Administration, thereby creating the necessary
data for the employee to be hired.

Employee data must be kept current. After an employee is hired, circumstances can always
arise which necessitate either the entry of new data or the correction of current data. For
instance −

• An employee moves to his or her new address must be stored in the system.

37
• An employee gets a pay hike at the start of the year. The new salary must be stored
for the relevant date.

• An employee changes jobs within the organization. His or her organizational

assignment, working time, and salary also change.

• Data can be stored for the past, present, or future.

Note − Entering payroll-relevant data in the past triggers retroactive accounting.

Chart 3.12 HR Process

The HR module is comprised of major areas of functionality known as sub-modules. The

HR module is a true demonstration of the strength of the SAP product in Enterprise
Resource Planning.

The HR system has very strong integration points (where data is passed back and forth
without human intervention) with just about all of the other SAP modules. In addition,
there is very tight integration amongst the HR sub-modules.

How SAP is used in whole process of Manufacturing and keeping all related
Data

First DESIGN DEPARTMENT design the material that is ordered as per the
customer requirnment and recorded in the SAP (MM) Material management then
It is sent to the PURCHASE SEPARTMENT then storage then Producrt planning
(means how all materuials can be arranged to get a desired product) the product
details are sent to SAP which is then goes to SALES DEPARTMENT and prices

38
are decided by FINANCE & MANAGEMENT and the amount is managed by
FINANCE DEPARTMENT.

How SAP GUI works

1. First level is SAP GUI

In this there is an screen showing 3 options.
• Production (PDR)
• Quality (QUL)
• Development (DEV)
Quality can also be understand by testing.

2. For (DEV) and (QUL) there can be thousands clients (000 to 999)
[ LeeBoyis using 100 for DEV and 630 for QUL]
But production (PDR) can only have one client [Company has “500”].
It is because all the work is done in this section and every user get
information from this so, it has to be the consistent for all the users.

5. Memory used in this sequence for normal process
• Dialoge memeory
• Extanded memory
• Heap memory
For long time process it changes and work on the background.
• Dialoge memeory
• Extanded memory Means that it follows max Heap
• Heap memory

6. If the process run for more than 24 hours we have to kill the process because
this means it has been hanged.
7. If the users are more than 2000 than we make dialog instances to decrease
the load from primary instances.

Any update goes from SAP GUI to dispatch queue in which dialopg recives it and
assign it to update but first it checks whether the update is come from authorised
user or not if yes than it begin the process otherwise throw back a message than
user unauthorised the time of updatation. Enqueer will stop any other treansaction
and the update get to interpreter to interprete it into appropriate form to store in DB
it is then sent from DB client to DB by listener.

Chapter 4: SUMMARY & CONCLUSION OF WORK

4.1 Summary:-
The purpose of this study is to know and understand the manufacturing process and
dealing with the problems that occur during assembling of various spare parts of
Earth moving machines like Backhoe Loader and Motor Grade. The study has been
done in Assembly Plant of Leeboy India. We have briefly learned about the process
used by company in Motor Grader and Backhoe Loader. In chapter 3 we have
leared about the how ERP helps any organisation in free flow of information in
various departments by using central database system. It reduces the time taken in
production cycle. Some drawbacks of non-ERP organisation are conflict between
different departments due their individual goals like Finance/Accounts department
tries to reduce the expenditure and Marketing department creat market by external
expenditure on promotion.
Duplication of invoice (Same invoice more than 2 times in different departments).
Less time for HOD’s for making strategy and plans as they need to solve problems
between different departments. SAP is an ERP product used by 48% worldwide.
SAP do supports all types of departments which make it most preferable. Flow of
information in explained in chapter 3.

4.2 Conclusion
We would like to conclude the project report by reporting the significance of the
project. The project may provide someone with the opportunity to reduce the time
of the production cycle using SAP for free flow of information in various
departments. This will also help in learing the process used in assembling the
various spare parts of various earth moving machines.

The internship is the bridge between the theoretical knowledge and the practical or
the reality work at the field of construction machines.

This program played an important role to break the conventional thought that
practical works can be only implemented by students who hold a degree or people
who have an experience in construction of machines. We could acquire a high level
of confidence to deal with problems that arise in a construction of machines.

Overall my internship program laid sound foundation for us to start our career.
