 Hamlet is written by William Shakespeare and an example of Tragedy
Dramatic Comedy.

 Beowulf is an epic from ENGLAND.
 The CORRIDO is composed of 8 syllables while AWIT is composed of 12
syllables.
 A short poem that is intended to be sung is called Folk Song (Awiting Bayan).
 An example of awit is Florante at Laura.
 The Ode is a poem of a noble felling, expressed with dignity on a certain object.
 Ibong Adarna is an example of Corrido which is written by Francisco Balagtas

 Songs praising God containing a philosophy of life is Psalms.
 Tragedy is where the hero struggles mighty against dynamic forces until he
meets death.
 The types of fiction are Short Story, Novel, Drama and Allegory.
 The opposite traits of main character is called Foil.
 The two kinds of characters are round and flat.
 When the character was able to undergo changes it is called ROUND
CHARACTERS.
 Elegy is poem for the dead.
 A lyric poetry that composed of 14 lines is Sonnet.
 The BIDASARI is an epic from Mindanao.
 A type of prose that usually about origin is LEGENDS.
 Short Story is a narration involving one or more characters in one plot and one
single impression.
 A long narration divided into chapters is NOVEL.
 Plays are a narrative poetry that is usually presented in stage and divided into
acts.
 A creation of the writer’s imagination and the main purpose is to bring out
lesson to the readers is ANECDOTES.
 The three elements of setting are time, place and atmosphere.
 Time sets the duration of the events. Place, locality of the events. Atmosphere
refers to the emotion or the mood.
 When there are two or more source of conflicts it is Episodic
 When the story is just sprouted from just one conflict it is Organic.
 The order of events that is organized according to suspense is called CLIMAX.
 Man vs. self is called Psychological Conflict.
 Man vs. nature is Physical Conflict.
 Omniscient point of view where he narrator is an all-knowing maker is under
Third person point of view.
 Confidant serves as a friend of a protagonist.
 When it is not closely related to the protagonist it is called Background
Characters.
 The author of The Republic is Plato.
 Mahabharata is written by Vyasa.
 Confessions, the Social Contact is written by Jean Jacques Rosseau.
 LEONA FLORENTINO the first poetess in the Philippines wrote the Poems in
Spanish and Ilocano.
 Dead star, Stepping Stone and Half a life is written by Paz Marquez Benitez.
 What is an educated Filipino? is written by Francisco Benitez.
