When will I receive the data?
On the 1st of every month.
If I activate my SIM in the middle of the month, after RICA activation, will the
data be prorated?
Irrespective of the date of activation within the month, you will receive the full
allocation of 200MB.
How do I activate the prepaid SIM Only Internet Starter Pack?
Once your SIM card is RICA’d, insert the card into your modem. Then connect the
modem to your USB port on your PC, laptop or notebook and connect to the internet
via the modem dashboard.
Is LTE available on the prepaid SIM Only Internet Starter Pack?
LTE service is enabled on all prepaid plans, but you’ll need to check if you fall within
Telkom Mobile’s LTE coverage at [Link]

frequency band to access Telkom Mobile’s LTE service. Telkom Mobile currently has

Can I use the SIM card to make voice calls?
Yes, voice calls can be made with the SIM card. However, you’ll have to purchase
airtime to be able to make voice calls.
Will I be charged the same rate when I’ve used up all my inbundle data?
No, all outofbundle data is charged at a rate of R1.00 per MB.
On which tariff plan will the prepaid SIM Only Internet Starter Pack be
activated?
The prepaid SIM will be activated on the current default prepaid tariff plan.
Can I buy additional data bundles?
Yes. You can purchase allnetwork internet prepaid bundles (for use on Telkom
Mobile’s network and MTN roaming). Or, you can purchase a Telkom Mobile only
internet prepaid bundles (for use only on Telkom Mobile’s network). You must check

What do I need to activate my data SIM card?
1. Your modem.
2. Your Telkom Mobile SIM card inserted into your modem.
3. Telkom Mobile will SMS your cellphone number to you after you have been
registered for RICA.
4. Insert your modem into your PC or laptop device to connect to the internet.
How do I recharge my account or purchase an internet bundle?
Step One: Airtime recharge
Option 1:
● Buy a recharge voucher.
● Dial *188*[RECHARGE VOUCHER PIN]# under the USSD tab on your modem
dashboard.
Option 2:
• SMS your recharge voucher PIN to 188, under the SMS tab on your modem
dashboard.
Option 3:
• Insert your SIM card into a handset/cellphone. Dial 188.
• Listen to welcome message and follow voice prompts.
• Use your phone’s endcall button/action upon completion.
Option 4:
• Log in to the Telkom Mobile self service portal at

• Purchase recharge airtime via EFT or credit card.
• And/or redeem your recharge airtime PIN.
Step Two: Internet bundle purchases
Please note: “All networks” means an internet bundle that can be used on the Telkom
Mobile network and via MTN roaming.
“Telkom Mobile network” means an internet bundle that can only be used on the
Telkom Mobile network. You’ll need to ensure that you have coverage before
purchasing any Telkom Mobile internet bundle.

How do I check my airtime, data or WiFi balance?
Option 1:

Option 3:

How do I get my data SIM card working?
• Remove the modem’s upper case.
• Slot in the SIM card.
• Insert the modem into a USB port on your laptop/desktop.
• Allow for the device drivers and modem dashboard to install
• Click on “Connect” to get started.
How do I contact customer support?
To call the Telkom Mobile customer support line for free on 180, please remove the
SIM card from your modem and insert it into a cellphone. (Calls to the Telkom Mobile
data support line are only free from a Telkom Mobile number.)
You can also phone customer care on 081 180 from any other network, but these
calls will be charged at applicable service provider rates.
