Welcome,

This portfolio marks the end of my twenty month journey

through the Master of Science in Law Enforcement and
Public Safety Leadership program. This portfolio contains
examples of my work and illustrates my interpretations and
leadership style within law enforcement. The coursework
displayed reflects my knowledge of the Program Learning
Outcomes (PLOs) and highlights my future career
aspirations.

I began my career in law enforcement in 2012 working for

the California State University, Monterey Bay Police
Department. I was assigned as a patrol officer for about
two years. I wished to further my career and expose myself
to a wider spectrum of law enforcement by lateraling to the
Marina Police Department. I was assigned as a patrol officer where I began to develop
an interest in Driving Under the Influence (DUI) investigations. I was recognized by
Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for my high number of DUI arrests within my
agency. I soon completed training as a Drug Recognition Expert to detect and
investigate drug impaired drivers. I was selected as a Field Training Officer during my
third year with the Marina Police Department. I began this program while I
simultaneously started the lateraling process to the Salinas Police Department.

Once I completed my one year of probationary employment as a patrol officer with the
Salinas Police Department, I was assigned to my current position as a motorcycle
officer. I am also a member of the Media Relations Team and an instructor for our
Community Academy.

I believe this program has allowed me to understand the broader goals within law
enforcement and prepared me for a leadership position within my career. My
professional goals are to positively influence those I work with and help build a strong
relationship with the community I work in, regardless of my rank or title. I view my job
as a peace officer is to help members of my community when they are unable to help
themselves and protect people from those who wish to do them harm.

Thank you for taking the time to view my ePortfolio.
