Tuguegarao is one of the cities in the country which is widely exposed to the increasing level of
risk and vulnerability to natural disasters and calamities brought about by extreme temperature
and continuous rainfall due to its geographical location and ecological features. These natural
occurrence have been aggravated by the adverse effects of climate change. Thus, one of the city’s
major projects is the massive tree planting and growing along the Pinacanauan Riverbanks to
help mitigate the effects of the said phenomenon.
Hence, as part of the activities on the celebration of Tuguegarao City’s 295th Patronal Fiesta (Afi
Festival 2019), the Tuguegarao City Government decided to conduct a three-kilometer (3km) and
five-kilometer (5km) “Fun Run ta Pinacanauan” which is a fund raising and tree planting activity
at the end of the race to involve more Tuguegaraoeños in the city’s advocacy on environmental
protection and preservation.
Rules and Guidelines of the Fun Run
1. The Tuguegarao City Government’s “Fun Run Ta Pinacanauan” will be conducted on the
August 09, 2019, which is the second day of the 295th Tuguegarao City Patronal Fiesta Afi
Festival 2019;
2. Registration fee is P 300.00, inclusive of shirts and snacks.
3. For pre-registration, participants shall submit their names to the City Environment and
Natural Resources Office and pay their registration fees at the City Treasurer’s Office. On-
site registration will also be available.
4. Participants may opt to join either the 3 – kilometer (3km) or 5-kilometer (5km) run.
5. Assembly time and start of registration shall be at 5:00 in the morning at the People’s
Gymnasium.
6. Race Bibs and Shirts shall be distributed upon registration.
7. Runners must be in their proper running attire.
8. The runners are encouraged to bring their own water tumblers to reduce waste. There will
be water stations along the course.
9. All participants must secure their own belongings. The organizers shall not be liable for
any loss or damage.
10. There will be an ambulance and standby medics in case of emergency.
11. First ten (10) finishers shall be given tokens and certificates.
12. Upon reaching the finish line, each participant shall be given a seedling to plant along the
identified planting site.
13. The seedlings planted by the participants shall serve as their legacy and contribution to
the city’s advocacy on environmental protection and preservation.
