Del Monte Onboarding Buddy Program
The Onboarding Buddy Program is Del Monte Philippines, Inc. (DMPI)’s Program that will
provide new employees the needed support to successfully acclimate to an institutional culture.
An Onboarding Buddy is someone who partners with an employee during their employment
transition whose role is to offer guidance and share experiences that support their new role and
responsibilities at DMPI.

An Onboarding Buddy is given acknowledgment in personnel file, as well as feedback regarding
his/her contribution to Onboarding success. His/her willingness and acceptance of this
leadership responsibility is a development opportunity.
At the end of the process, the Onboarding Buddy will receive a Gift Card with a Thank-You
Card as an award from Talent Management upon successful feedback from the New Hire.
B. Onboarding Buddy Criteria
Onboarding Buddy Selection should be based on the following characteristic
1. Willing and able to be a buddy.
a. Agrees to serve as a main point of contact for the New Hire for questions or
concerns.
b. Be a resource person about the work rules, workspace culture and unwritten
policies and procedures.
c. Able to divide the appropriate amount of time to the process and be flexible in
responding to the needs of the New Hire.
2. Good role model of DMPI.

a. Is well regarded and accepted by current employees.
b. Has manager's approval to serve as a buddy.
c. Demonstrates strong performance.
d. Is skilled in/has knowledge of the New Hire's job.
e. Is proud of DMPI and its achievements.
f. Familiar with company's processes, organization, culture, and leadership.
g. Understands business direction of the organization.
3. Demonstrates good interpersonal skills.
a. Able to develop rapport with individuals quickly.
C. Implementation Guidelines
1. Talent Management sends a New Hire Announcement to Hiring Manager that will trigger
the selection of a buddy.
2. The Hiring Manager will nominate a buddy for the New Hire and notify Talent
Management of the assigned buddy.
3. Talent Management sends the Talent Management Toolkit –hm for the Onboarding
Buddy. The Onboarding Buddy should start performing items on the tasklist under “Pre-
Arrival”.
4. New Hire attends onboarding with Talent Management on Day 2 of employment. Talent
Management will trun over the New Hire to the Onboarding Buddy by 12:00 noon for the
welcome lunch and give the Buddy Packet.
5. The Onboarding Buddy will perform the rest of the duties assigned in the worksheet.
He/she should check off each item as completed.
6. New Hire will submit completed Buddy System Feedback Form to Talent Management
for filing and future studies at the end of his/her 100th day with the organization. Talent
Management will submit a copy of the form to the Hiring Manager.
