experienced?
Analyzing Differentiate solar from 2. Do you know how this phenomenon occurs?
lunar eclipses 3. What celestial objects are shown in the image?
4. What is the similarity between the formation of images
in the video clip and the phenomenon shown in the
pictures?
Task 3: Explore
Working in groups, students will design an activity/ follow
guided activity simulating the occurrence of lunar and
solar eclipses using the following materials:
* Flashlight
* Large ball
* Small ball (1/4 the size of the large ball)
* 2 barbeque stick
* Clay
Note: Simulation activity works best in a dark room.
Guide Questions:

2. Draw the positions of the flashlight, large ball and small
ball that show:
* Lunar eclipse
* Solar eclipse
Rubric:
The rubric will be presented to the class.
Task 4: Explain
Students will present their diagrams.
Guide Questions: (Teacher will ask the questions)
1. Based on the diagram, how do the solar and lunar eclipses
occur?
2. At what phase of the Moon will solar and lunar eclipses
occur?
Task 5: Elaborate
Guide Questions: (Teacher will ask the questions)
1. Is it possible for solar eclipse to happen every new moon
phase?
2. Is it possible for lunar eclipse to happen every full moon
phase?
3. Will all places on Earth experience total solar and lunar
eclipses at the same time? Why?
Task 6: Evaluate
Draw and explain the position of the Sun, Earth and Moon
