INTRODUCTION
CONTENT.

This checklists consists of three sections: normal, combat, and emergency

procedures. This checklist will be used by all members of the 476th
vFighter Group. All other individuals need to verify the requirements of
their respective multiplayer organization.

The procedures in this checklist are derived from the MiG-21bis Pilot
Operating Handbook. Some procedures are not applicable to the simulator,
either because they require a physical action impossible in the simulator, or
because they require systems not yet implemented. These procedures are
reproduced in a lighter gray shading. Those steps that require a technician’s
assistance are in italics.

Some switches in the DCS: MiG-21bis cockpit have not yet been translated
to English. These switches are indicated by their English function, followed
by their Russian title in parentheses.

English terms for instrument indicators are used over transliterated Russian
terms (such as “artificial horizon” instead of “KPP” and “HSI” instead of
“NPP”). Typical American terms are used (“EGT”) over literal Russian
translations (“jet-pipe temperature”), except for where those terms are
switch titles (e.g., “AUTO SKID BRAKE” over “ANTI-SKID”).

Some switch labels are misspelled (e.g. “GIRO”); these misspellings are
preserved.

Subsequent increase in throttle position will result in recurrence of
engine sure.

Additional signs of an engine surge:

 Multiple pops in nose of aircraft, air intake surge.

 Pops in the tail section.
 Abrupt decrease of engine speed and exhaust temperature
accompanied by engine flameout at Mach numbers greater than 1.8.
 Fluctuation of engine speed and exhaust temperature at Mach numbers
less than 1.8.
 Abrupt decrease of engine speed and increase in exhaust temperature.
