II. Introduction

1. History

Vietnam National Petroleum Group or Petrolimex was established in 01/12/1956, with the first name
is Petroleum Company. From 1956 to 1975, Petrolimex had to ensure the demand of gasoline and oil
for industrial development and anti-sabotage war of American empire. In 1980s, Petrolimex restored
devastated petroleum facilities, taken over petroleum facilities, organized petroleum supply networks
in Vietnam and provided enough gasoline for industrial, national defense and people’s life. Over 30
years up to now, Petrolimex implement innovation and development strategies. In present, Petrolimex
has 41 member companies, 34 branches and enterprises directly under 100% state-owned member
companies, have 23 joint stock companies with dominant contributed capital of the Corporation, 3
joint-venture companies with foreign countries and have 1 branch in Singapore.
2. Location
- Location: Dang Nhu Lam Street, Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City; 15km from the center of
Ho Chi Minh City.
- Total area: 200 ha.
- Total capacity: 730.000 m3 with 9 piers.

3.Function
Petrolimex’s functions is to import, export and deal in petroleum, refining and petrochemical
products. Therefore, not only is the ideal center to facilitate the distribution and supply of petroleum
to the domestic market in the South and the Central Highlands, Nha Be Petroleum Depot is also
responsible for storing, importing - exporting, preparing, dispensing and distributing oil or gasoline
products for domestic market and re-export. Moreover, it is the Biofuels Blending Center at the
request of Petrolimex Saigon and Southern Region of Vietnam National Petroleum Group.

III. Literature review.

IV. Warehouse Description.

1. Operation processes
The Nha Be petroleum depot has a function of storing, importing and dispensing petroleum products
at the request of Petrolimex Saigon and Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex).
Nha Be Petroleum Depot has a technical infrastructure system of scale, a modern port system with a
total capacity of 730,000 cbm-tons, a tank equipped with a buoy, Automatic Gauging System (ATG),
09 wharves are capable of receiving vessels up to 40,000 DWT, import and export technology is
controlled automatically, new generation flowmeter, accurate and periodically tested; automatic fire
protection system, together with environmental waste collection and treatment network. The general
warehouse is continuing to modernize and automate petroleum technology at an international level.
The Nha Be petroleum depot has two main processes:
Importing gasoline:
1st step: From the plan as well as consignment, related departments will check the amount of gas in
the tank and open the valve as preparations, all information will be reported to manager . Check the
quantity as well as quality .
2nd step: The amount of gas received is measured by the different height and barem in the tank
3rd step : Staff will report the received gas to the business department to update new data.
4th step : Collating the measured data to the consignment, statistical.
Exporting gasoline:
1st step : From the gas station, the manager will check the remain gas and make a importing
requirement to gas to the corporation.
2nd step: Business department will check the statical and then make decision whether or not accept the
gas station to take the gas.
3rd step: Decide which tank the xitec will be pumped as required and sealed
4th step: manager of the gas station will check the gas sample as well as the seal.
5th step: All the receipt and paper is forwarded to business department to make payment.
2. Layout
3. Storage equipments
Petroleum storage tank is a basic equipment to complete the main task of a
warehouse is petroleum storage, with sufficient quantity and quality. There are two
kind of tank Standing Cylinder Tank and Lying Cylinder Tank. There are 17 Standing
Cylinder Tan, numbered from 1 to 17, including tank numbered 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 14, 17
contains DO, tank numbered 6, 9,10,13,15: contains gasoline E5, tank numbered
5,11: contains Gasoline 95, tank numbered 3, 7,16 contain FO. These tank make the
total storage capacity is up to 1,500,000m3. There are 11 Lying Cylinder Tank with
negligible volume placed on the ground. It is used to filter the fuel that is dropped
from the gas pit, discharge the wind after the filtering time and can re-enter through
the pipe back into the tank. Surrounding tanks placed underground must be covered
with sand or fine soil. The coating thickness is not less than 0.3m
4. Handling equipments
4.1. Pipelines
Petroleum pipelines are the basic equipment to guide the flow of gasoline to the right place. In
Petrolimex warehouse, a double pipe system is installed, each type of petroleum has a separate tank.
There are two pipelines coming from each cluster, one pipe used for import, and one pipeline used to
export petroleum. Technology pipelines through dikes must be placed in telescopes and inserted with
non-flammable materials.
4.2. Pumps
The pump is an essential part of petroleum storage. It is a hydraulic machine used to move liquids
from one place to another or create the necessary pressure in the piping system. Petrol pump station
Petrolimex has all 12 pumps, 3 gear pumps and 9 centrifugal pumps. In 3 gear pumps there are two
pumps used 3-phase electric motors with capacity of 300m3/h for waterway and one pump with
capacity of 100m3/h for road transport, using 3-phase electric motors for strains FO type. The nine
centrifugal pumps include four pumps with capacity of 100m3/h that allocated to roads, using 3-phase
electric motors; five pumps with capacity of 300m3/h, which are allocated to waterways using 3-
phase electric motors using various types top teeth. which has a backup. From this backup pump,
different types of goods can be brought to the required place.

4.3. Valves
Some valves in technological piping system. The main valve of import and export function is non-
export and import route in the technological pipeline system. The valves on the top must always be in
the closed state when entering the goods into the tank.Pumping pump valve with the function of
communication between oils through pump 12. Depending on the route of the pipeline for barge, tank
truck containing all kinds of products will open these continuous valves using another product. to
exchange a product back to the tank, return to the correct export route.Safety valve (return valve):
protect the pipe from tearing of the gasket, the pump is not overloaded when there is a problem that
creates pressure greater than the maximum allowable value of the pipeline.
V. Problem statement

1. Area of tank trucks
- However, there are In the tank area, with the density of vehicles coming in regularly, there is
no clear separation of the vehicle's path and the pedestrian's path. Because in turn, turn: Big
cars operate very heavy, to turn around, they need a wide radius to control the car, or a large
space to move, accidentally pedestrians can enter the point Blind of the car, the driver does
not cover the vision.

VI. Methodology
