Rock History: The Ventures
With more than 110-million albums sold worldwide, The
Ventures are the best-selling instrumental rock band of all
time. Formed in 1958 in Tacoma, WA, fans world wide
adored The Ventures for their catchy melodies, driving
beats, and instrumental virtuosity. Their first number hit,
'Walk—Don't Run,' peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts in
1960. Astonishingly, the band recorded a second version of
the same song, and it hit #8 on the Billboard charts just
four-years later.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, 'Walk, Don't Run' is
the 82nd greatest guitar song of all time, and The Ventures
were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame in 2008.
