Director’s Message

In this technology pervasive environment, the attainment of


technical education is becoming an essential goal of the youth. I am
positive that for the academic and research pursuits, CTTI is the
most preferred destination for the best students, teachers,
researchers and scholars. To enhance the competitiveness in
Pakistan through a quality and productive workforce by developing
demand driven, standardized and dynamic technical education
system, this institute has played an active part in shaping the modern
day technical education.

CTTI is the only institute in Pakistan accredited by APACC


(Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission) City & Guilds, NQA (National Qualification
Authority), UAE and also certified by ISO 14001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and IWA2:2007 due to its high
standards of training. CTTI is offering DAE and several short courses to cope up the market needs and
provide best technicians for the industry.

In order to imbue leadership and instill discipline while maintaining the friendly environment, we
must create an interactive practical based learning environment where the student’s mind can thrive
with creativity. We also inspire you to involve into a whole lot of innovative projects being pursued by the
student community under the guidance of faculty mentors.

About CTTI

Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) was


established as Construction Machinery Training Centre (CMTC) in

Cooperation Agency (JICA). The institute, A LIVING MONUMENT I

OF PAKISTAN – JAPAN FRIENDSHIP, is functioning under


Ministry of Communications, Government of Pakistan and under
the administrative control of Frontier Works Organization. The
Institute, having successfully achieved its aim and objectives, was
upgraded in 1992 and renamed as Construction Machinery
Training Institute (CMTI). Classes of Diploma of Associate
Engineer in Mechanical Technology, Construction Machinery
Planning and Employment Course and Construction Machinery
Supervision Course were started in 1993.

Diploma of Associate Engineer in Civil Technology and “Capacity Building” Short courses i.e.
Civil Surveyor, Civil Draughtsman, Building Electrician, Building Painter, Plumber and Sanitary Installer,
Bricklayer/Mason, Carpenter and Construction Material Technician were introduced in 2006. Turner
Machinist with CNC and Health Safety & Environment courses have recently been started i.e wef July
2015. Construction Machinery. Training Institute (CMTI) was renamed as Construction Technology
Training Institute (CTTI). Diploma of Associate Engineer in Civil Technology (with specialization in
Quantity Survey) was introduced in 2011.

Presently 5 x Diploma courses of 3 years duration and about 41 x different vocational short
courses ranging 1 to 6 months duration are being conducted by this Institute.

CTTI has been conducting short courses in collaboration with JICA, KOICA, TOYOTA, NUST.KPK,
FDA, NAVTTC, PSDF and UNDP.

Vision
Construction Technology Training Institute aspires to establish itself as an esteemed Technical and
Vocational Training Institute in dynamic equilibrium with its social and economic environment striving
continuously for excellence in training, research and technological service to the nation.

Mission
Construction Technology Training Institute aims at achieving a prominent status at the national and
international levels by creating a dynamic educational environment where technical and vocational
trainings will be imparted to provide knowledge based technological services to satisfy needs of society
and local and international industries. The institute will continuously strive to build national capacity in
Technical and Vocational sector.

Aim and Objectives


Ÿ To provide supervisors and sub-engineers, proficient in planning and management of construction
machinery / civil engineering works to various agencies for execution of projects in an efficient and
economical manner.
Ÿ To provide trained operators and skilled mechanics to construction agencies so that construction
machinery is preserved.
Ÿ To provide adequate knowledge in planning, employment and supervision of construction machinery
to project managers and supervisors.
Ÿ To contribute in socio-economic development through equipping youth of the country with technical
skills in different fields.

Mechanical Department
Mechanical Department
This department was established in 1986 and still CTTI is only Technical Training Institute in the
country offering DAE in Mechanical Technology with Specialization in Construction Machinery. Training
includes maintenance and troubleshooting of earthmoving machinery like Bulldozer, Motor Grader,
Hydraulic Excavator etc. Government of Japan and JICA are helping this department by providing state of art
training aids and equipment since 1986. Japanese experts are revising the curriculum of Construction
Machinery courses and also providing new training aids of latest technology. They have trained our faculty on
latest machines both in Japan and Pakistan. Realizing the performance of our passed out students in national
and multinational organizations, more and more companies have contacted Mechanical Department for
provision of the talent. In this way rate of employment is very high with handsome salary packages.

The world we are living is periodically transforming global technical challenges in general
and automotive industry in particular. Moreover, after rapid boom and increasing demand of
automotive industry in all contemporary and moderate countries, both state and its technical
institutions now can’t afford to exist in a cloud above society. All of this would be nothing if we do
not try to stay abreast of latest emerging trends, methods and techniques. Accordingly, Auto

Civil Engineering Department
Civil Engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the planning, designing,
construction, operation and maintenance works such as buildings, roads, bridges, flyovers,
under passes, railway tracks, airports, docks and harbors, factories, dams, barrages, canals, water
supply schemes and sewerage system. .
Civil Department of CTTI was established in 2006 and DAE in Civil Engineering started
in the same year. Beside DAE Civil Engineering, the Skill Development courses of 6 months duration
are also being run under this Department. The Department is fully equiped with requisite equipment
and facilities to efficiently impart theoretical and practical knowledge to the students. Students of this
Department have sufficient opportunities of getting jobs in various government / private
departments.

Quantity Survey Department
Quantity surveying in public sector has been put to use right from the early years of post
colonialism as colonial administrations at the time when handing over control to the new sovereign
governments. Major roles of Quantity Surveyors in administration are “Managing construction
projects, giving expert advice on contractual claims, assessing the cost and act as an independent
arbitrator in settling dispute”.
In order to meet the futuristic demand in construction field, Quantity Survey Department was
established in 2011 at Construction Technology Training Institute. Apart from three years Diploma
in Associate Engineering, short courses have also been organized successfully by this
Department. Qualified students from this department not only are taking in part in National
Development Programs but also working in Internationally renowned construction companies.

establishment of IT Centre, an Information Communication Technology Centre (ICT) of Excellence
has been established at CTTI through Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) duly
equipped with international standard training facilities with the consent of Ministry of
Communications. After the establishment of ICT, a world class training facility is available at CTTI.
ICT Centre provides a complete appropriate, excellence and globally recognized IT-based
education in all level and disciplines with the objective of creating professionals and leaders. ICT
Centre prepare students for successful careers and lifelong learning in Information Technology and
research through knowledge creation, technology development and innovation.

Admission / Selection Procedure
Admission is made purely on merit. Marks in science subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry,
Mathematics and English in matric are considered for preparing merit for DAE, however merit of
short courses is based on total marks of matric. If applicant possesses additional qualification of
FA/FSc, 5% marks of his FA/FSc will be added in his merit. Admission against short courses where
middle is pre-requisite is on 'first come first serve basis', however, preference is given to matriculate.
20 marks are awarded to applicants having valid Hafiz-e- Quran Certificate. Schedule of courses is
advertised in leading newspapers of the country well before the commencement of courses.
Applicants apply on prescribed forms (attached with the prospectus) alongwith attested photocopies
of following documents:-
Ÿ Academic Certificates along with Detailed Marks Sheets issued from Board / University.
Ÿ National Identity Card / Form B.
Ÿ Domicile Certificate.
Ÿ Three Passport Size Photographs with blue background.
Ÿ B.Sc Engineering Degree / Diploma Certificate (for Construction Machinery Planning &
Employment & Supervision Course only).
Selection is done by a Board of Instructors/Officers and selected candidates are informed
through telephone mentioned in the admission forms. A candidate stands finally admitted to CTTI
after he has completed all formalities. Candidate can be withdrawn during the course on disciplinary

Distribution of Seats
In order to give fair representation to students from all parts of the country, distribution of seats has
been notified by the board of management as under:-

Ÿ AJK/GB/FATA - 10%
Note:- In case of non availability of candidates from any province against its quota, the number of
vacant seats are proportionately allocated to other provinces.

Performance Evaluation of Students
Ÿ The performance of the students/ trainees of all the courses is regularly monitored by the training
staff during training period. In order to ascertain assimilation and comprehension of the students,
examinations are conducted regularly as follow:
DAE Courses.
Ÿ DAE courses at CTTI are affiliated with Punjab Board of Technical Education. Final examinations
are held under their arrangements. Monthly, Bimonthly, Midterm examinations - written & practical
are held at the institute. There is Zero Tolerance for use of any unfair means in Examinations. Send
up examination are held before final examination. Passing send up examination is mandatory for
qualifying admission in Final Examination. The rules and regulations laid down by PBTE are
strictly adhered to.
Skill Development Short Courses.
Ÿ For short courses, CTTI is affiliated with National Training Bureau (NTB). Results are based on
performance in Monthly written and practical tests held at the institute and final examinations held
under arrangements of NTB.
Industrial / Recreational Visits
Educational and recreational visits are organized to the industries, technical institutes and various
firms to break monotony and show students practical application of concepts they learn in class
rooms.

Visits by Local and Foreign Delegation / Dignitaries

Because of the well known high standard of education and training CTTI has the honor to host
frequent visits from high level local and foreign delegations / dignitaries. The visiting dignitaries
express their profound admiration and appreciation for the remarkable standard of education and
training of the institute. CTTI has the singular honor of hosting twice visit by honorable Prime Minister
of Pakistan - first in Sep 1989 by Mohtarma Benazier Bhutto and second time by his Excellency Mr.
Shaukat Aziz in August 2006. He remarked “It is heartening to see so many young students acquiring
skills at CTTI, we will support CTTI to expand and provide first class skills to our young generation so

Boarding / Lodging Facility


CTTI has hostel facilities for 630 students. There are four hostels namely Jinnah House, Iqbal House, Sir
Syed House and Liaqat House. These provide excellent boarding and lodging facilities. Rooms are well
furnished, neat and clean, airy and well lit. In case of load shedding electricity is provide through a standby
generator. Facility of hot water is available in winters. Each house has newspapers, separate study room, table
tennis.

Extra Curricular Activities
Extra curricular activities play an important role in grooming of students personalities and
developing their leadership qualities. CTTI besides academic activities also organize co/extra
curricular activities. Qirat, Naat, Declamation / Debate and Sports Competitions are conducted in

Miscellanies Facilities

Library
CTTI has a well stocked library, It has large number of technical books/
manuals, general books, periodicals, magazines and daily news papers. It
also has a number of computers with internet facility.
Student Messing / Dining
Institute has two spacious, well kept and tidy canteens which provide good
dining and messing facilities to boarding students at economical rates.

Mosque
The Institute has a beautiful, centrally located mosque where five time
prayers along with Juma prayers are organized regularly.

Sports Grounds
CTTI has well kept sports grounds for the students which include
Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Foot Ball and Cricket grounds. Sports gears /
equipment is provided to students free of cost.

Medical Facilities
CTTI has MI room for provision of first aid. A doctor is available during the
classes time for emergent case and two para-medical staff 24 hours.
Ambulance service is also available for evacuation to hospital. However,
the students have to bear the medical treatment charges.

ATM
Recently Meezan Bank has installed ATM in CTTI which is facilitating staff
/ students in cash transaction at their door step.

Rules and Regulations

At CTTI great emphasis is laid on discipline and conduct. Adherence to rules and regulations
is mandatory. Any violation in this regard is strictly dealt with. Some of the important rules /
regulations are:-

Ÿ Students will wear prescribed uniforms.


Ÿ Students will adhere to class timings as specified in the training programme.
Ÿ Students will arrange books and stationery items as prescribed by their teachers within 7
days of start of the course.
Ÿ Leave will be granted in compassionate cases only.
Ÿ Students will deposit their training fees / charges before 19th of each month. 10% fine will
be charged for delay for each month. Non deposit of tuition fee for consecutive 2 months
will lead to withdrawal from institute.
Ÿ Indulgence in any immoral or indecent activity is a serious offence. Any student found
involved in such acts will be immediately withdrawn and legal action will be initiated
against him.
Ÿ Use of mobile phones inside class rooms is strictly prohibited.
Ÿ Students will not indulge in political / sectarian discussions.
Ÿ Smoking is strictly prohibited inside CTTI including hostels.
Ÿ Residential area is out of bound for students.
Ÿ Students are issued with CTTI and Library Cards. On loss of cards the students will be
issued duplicate cards after paying laid down fine.

Attendance
Ÿ All trainees are to be regular in attending the classes.
Ÿ No trainee will be allowed to appear in final examination (theory or practical) if his
attendance is less than 80% in case of DAE and 90% in case of short courses (including
leave due to sickness or on any other account).
Ÿ Leave will not be granted on telephone, except in extreme emergency. | 38 |
Students Living in Hostels

Ÿ Students will wear prescribed uniforms.


Ÿ Students are not permitted to keep weapons, intoxicants and any other contra band items.
Ÿ Students should not damage or remove fixtures installed in hostels. Any loss or damage due to
neglect or misuse will be borne by the concerned individual.
Ÿ Students will adhere to the study timings.
Ÿ Mess timings flashed on Notice Board by Training Branch will be strictly adhered to.
Ÿ Lights out timings will be strictly observed.
Ÿ Guests can visit students on weekends and holidays only as per laid timings.
Ÿ No student will leave CTTI premises without formal permission.
Ÿ Students will bring their bedding along. For uniformity purpose white color bedding is
recommended.
Ÿ Students will get clearance from respective house wardens before checking out.
Ÿ Students will clear their Canteen / Mess bills by 10th of each month.
Ÿ Students are advised not to keep valuables / large sum of money.
Ÿ Use of mobile phones during study timings and after lights out time is strictly prohibited.
Ÿ All safety / security instructions laid down by CTTI from time to time will be adhered to.

Construction Technology Training Institute continuously strives to provide best education and
training environments to students. It has state of the art training facilities, highly qualified and
dedicated administration. Our goal is to produce students who are not only professionally competent
but also are morally sound, socially responsible, dutiful citizens and useful and productive members
