Have you ever experience being discriminated and humiliated on social media? Have
you ever met or known someone that is a victim of Cyber bullying? Are you aware that this
act is very perilous because it could lead to depression and even suicide? Or do you even
know what is Cyber bullying? Cyber bullying is a form of discrimination or bullying through
the use of electronic devices. A type of bullying where, social media is the platform of hu-
miliation and discrimination. An immature behaviour just to make fun of someone on social
media regardless of the results afterwards. According to surveys 43% of kids have been bul-
lied online. 1 in 4 has it happened more than once. Only 1 in 10 victims will inform a parent
or trusted adult of their abuse. And what is alarming is that bullying victims are 2 to 9 times
more likely to consider committing suicide according to studies. Cyber bullying is a serious
matter since it can greatly affect the lives children and teenagers both socially and psycho-
logically.

According to an article that I read there are two kinds of people who are likely to bul-
ly; the socially active people and the socially inactive people. It is said that bullying results in
an upgrade of confidence, thinking the control is on the hands of the bully as it also the
main reason of why socially active people may bull other people. Socially activepeople bully
others because it makes them feel powerful in other words their egocentricities. They do
such things just to maintain their popularity. They only think about what is good for them
making them selfish and needy. Socially inactive people bully other people so that they can
fit and to prove that they are compatible with the surroundings. Like socially active people
bullying also makes them feel powerful. This means that individuals bully other people to
boost their egos. These individuals simply harass or discriminate others to entertain them-
selves. They themselves resort to cyber bullying to satisfy their egos. The reason why cyber
bullying is their popularity magnet is that they can get more people to see it on social media.
Making themselves powerful and popular in a wrong way. By using cell phones, laptops, and
other gadgets they have a larger crowd to show how to harass an innocent individual.
Cyber bullying may not harm somebody physically; instead it may harm them men-
tally. The person who is a victim of cyber bullying will feel that he or she is not important in
this world. Some people don’t even want to go to school or even go outside anymore. Their
experience of being humiliated and harassed already on social media have installed fear into
their hearts. One will start questioning himself making him depressed. Depression is not an
easy fight it is a back in fort battle of oneself and if someone could not get help or can’t take
it anymore he or she will consider committing suicide. And which is not good practice. Cyber
bullying may not harm a person physically but it will affect them mentally.

There are also many ways to help yourself when you are getting bullied. You can
seek for professional help from the police and or legal help. Block the accounts who are
harassing you. Always inform somebody when you are being cyber bullied, harassed or,
mobbed. And the Anti-Bullying Act of 2013 also known as RA 10627 is the law that protects
the youth from any kind of bullying. Sec 2-d RA 10627 covers social bullying aiming to belit-
tle another individual or group or gender-based bullying that humiliates another on the ba-
sis of perceived or actual sexual orientation. We have already a law to prevent cyber bully-
ing but still we cannot rely on the law only. As concerned citizens we must encourage oth-
ers to stop discrimination and to inspire to treat other people equally. So that in order for us
prospers as one nation.

Cyber bullying is a crime that is why we should stop doing humiliating our fellow-
men.. And if you humiliate other people it only proves that you are less than that person.
We should never let our own pride take over. We should not live our lives according to our
ego. We must treat others with respect and kindness. We should treat others the way you
treat ourselves. Cyber bullying should not be a way for us to be popular. We can be popular
if we do the right things. What good is popularity if our character is worst than a fowl smell-
ing carcass.
