MARKETING DEPARTMENT
PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT
This is the most important department in HLL at Peroorkada. The main product is
condom. The main raw material is natural latex. The production capacity is 700 million
pieces per year.
Out of these, Peroorkada production facility is the main and biggest. The processing
technology followed by the production here is obtained from M/S Okomoto Industries
and the company have imported machineries using Japanese and German technologies.
The production has three main plants:-
Production process:-The company has a well defined process layout. The main
activities under the production process are
a. Compounding
b. Moulding
c. Vulcanizing
In compounding section, the latex is mixed with the chemical and other ingredients.
The raw material is pumped to the ‘MIXER TANKER’ by a dishaphrum pump. The
chemicals (tomol, dravanl, Zinc oxide, sulphur etc)are grined about 72 hours in a
ballmill with 1% Ammonium solution. After mixing, the mixture will be kept at a
temperature of 20 degree for atleast 3 days for maturity. The compounding section is
called the primary unit.
The compounded latex is passed to the next section, called ‘moulding section’ from
where the secondary processing beings. The moulds which are in glass rod shapes
dipped in the compounded latex. From this stage onwards, most of processes are done
electronically.
The dipped moulds are dried by using steam chambers and again dipped. Again the
moulds are dried at 132 degree Celsius. Two ‘beading devices’ are placed near the
rotating belt, which help to role the lower edge of the condoms. After this the moulded
condoms, which helps its stripping. The stripping is done by pumping the slurry after
slurry after washing the mould is again used for dipping.
The condoms with slurry comes to a rotating devices (in the vulcanizing section),
where the condoms are separated from slurry. By recycling, slurry can be reused. The
condoms then moves to a driver, where it is dried by using a hot air, from here the
condoms are pushed vulcanizing. The condom then comes to the ‘quenching machine’.
